You can walk around the gas light district which has an abundance of bars and great restaurants. The Grand Hyatt is a great place to stay because you are right on the water and if you have the bay view, you get a ringside seat for the fireworks show. Humphreys is great for concerts but so so for beer, wine or good food. If you really want to go stylin' take a short drive to Coranado Island or even La Jolla. Both are on the water with plenty of good restaurants and wine bars.
