The problem with office is that it is a gigantic amalgamation of features. Most office users use, say 15-20% of the total features. The problem is that the 20% I use and the 20% you use aren’t the same. As far as I can tell the only way to make sure the mobile app has all the features each office user needs is to use the full desktop level apps.

I spent the afternoon working from the iPad attached to my thunderbolt 3 dock. It is remarkable how close this thing is to being a desktop replacement. If WWDC brings us a little more love for iPad OS and the ability to run full MacOS apps like office then I could see totally replacing a laptop with the iPad Pro. Having a monitor, mouse, keyboard, DAC, ethernet, and power all connected via a single cable to a thunderbolt dock feels like the fucking future.

Happy birthday, Rob! Hope your weather is as nice down in the south bay as it is up here in Marin today!

Picked up the new hotness today. Holy moly this thing is big coming off the 2018 11”. The keyboard case was expensive but it feels great. HDR on the new screen is stunning. Nearly LG-OLED-like blacks and eye-searing brightness. All that is missing is Apple letting us run full desktop-Mac apps on this thing!

Jerry Lee Lewis - Live at the Star Club Hamburg They don't call him "the Killer" for nothing. The man can play.

Yesssssss! Finally something to put that PS5 to work. TLOU2 PS5 upgrade hits today! I know what I’m going to be replaying this weekend.

I'd guess there just wasn't a need for it until recently now that every streaming service is jumping on the lossless/hi-rez train. Probably an upsell feature on AirPod Max 2?

Agreed. They are not cheap but they are really good at what they do. I'm yet to meet anyone who owns them and doesn't like them. With wireless headphones I care a lot more about having a good connection with good range than I do lossless over AAC. I imagine Apple's engineers felt the same way.

I’m potentially interested. Let’s see how it ends up working out next month. The spatial stuff sounds like a gimmick, but I’d be happy to be proved wrong.

Had a night at the opera last night... only instead of at the opera house it was a drive-up stage at the Marin Civic Center. They did Barber of Seville. It feels great to getting on the road back to live theater/music/opera.

Curtis Mayfield - Curtis Live! Curtis is one cool MF'er. This is a great live set from 1971 at a small NYC club pre-Super Fly.

	Happy birthday, young lady!

Rogue-likes and procedurally generated game levels have been an increasing trend in the games business. The promise of saving a ton of developer time and expense and having the computer generate "infinitely repayable" content is an alluring one. It is a trend I hate. Computer generated content can be helpful as a template, but the difference between hand-crafted content and procedurally generated stuff is often not subtle. The Hitman series is in many ways at the extreme opposite end of the spectrum from Rogue-likes, and I love that about it. Everything in these three games is so obviously hand-crafted and polished to a fine sheen. While the content is less repayable once you've consumed it, I'd rather have less of something great than an infinite amount of "meh" when it comes to how I spend my leisure time. Hitman is one of my top 10 favorite games. I've been having a ton of fun with it. Best pitch I can give is that it is like being able to play "Groundhog Day" only you role-play as a James Bond-level super assassin in exotic locales instead of a washed-up weatherman in Punxsutawney, PA.

I got some terribly sad news last night from one of my sisters that a close family friend lost her baby in week 40 of her pregnancy. It would have been her and her husband's second child. I can't even imagine how devastated they must be. It is very, very sad.

The KLF - The White Room I'm starting to become a big fan of the Justified Ancients. These albums are soooo chill.

I'm stuck inside working all day but at least I was able to arrange for the Chairman of the Board to come by and play a set.

Bo Diddley - Bo Diddley's Beach Party It makes me sad we don't have more live albums of the rock pioneers in their prime. Bo and his boys absolutely shred here for a straight up 30 minute hit of adrenaline. With performers like Chuck Berry, Bo, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, and others the studio recordings are ok, but these guys all spent their lives on the road performing to live audiences night-in and night-out. Live is how their art is meant to be experienced. It isn't until the Beatles and The Beach Boys before rock music starts doing things in the studio that could never be done in a live setting. I'm glad we at least have this gem from Bo's prime.

The fall concert season is going to be absolutely stacked with all the artists who weren't able to go on tour in 2020. So far I've bought tickets to: Julien Baker Waxahatchee Soccer Mommy and I'm sure there will be more to come.

	Happy birthday, KG!

Now that is how you end a basketball game. Wow!

Love that series, but it has been a long time since I played the original. I still think the DLC for Bioshock Infinite is some of the best DLC ever made for any game. I love the way it ties the entire series together.
