  1. lol
  2. A little late, but congrats Nate.
  3. Good IEMs can sound amazing... Until you get tired of them. You'll come back to the fold eventually, but until you do enjoy them fancy earbuds.
  4. Cool, I wonder if they sell these in Canada. I'd love to have cases for my K340's and RS-1's for when I take them on the road.
  5. dc - That looks sweet, not that pricey either all things considered.
  6. Just to add to what guzzi said about the K340s needing lots of current... Though they do need a fair bit, what they really need to sound their best is lots of voltage swing. This is the main reason that amps ideal for the K1000 often are poor matches for the K340 and visa versa.
  7. I think our baking soda and cocaine are the same here as in the US of A.
  8. Wow, that bears a remarkable resemblance to my day. Well, minus the going to class part...
  9. Probably a tossup between Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra and The Gossip. I've only seen Antibalas once, but it was a great show. People of all ages, denominations, etc... just having a great time. The amount of people involved in the show was shocking, and the performance excellent. I think Tyrion saw them live as well and can back me up here. The Gossip I've seen many times and will continue to see whenever I get the chance. Beth Ditto has an energy about her that is very engaging. I'd gladly watch her perform all day. The music is pretty damn good as well.
  10. I like how this was posted in the Drink forum. I'm enjouying a nice Shiraz right now myself btw... wasn't expecting much given the plastic bottle 1L format, but it's pretty damn good. [silver Leaf 2006 from SE Australia]
  11. Congrats and best of luck.
  12. You have no idea...
  13. Mario Kart Wii & Endless Ocean
  14. Deepak - Dew eeet! I'd love to get some impressions on the RAKK active output stage before I pony up the cash. I'll probably build it for a different DAC though... And maybe use sigma11 PSU's and a custom case. Gotta mix things up.
  15. I had the lessloss dac (loaned from Konig) in my rig for a solid month or so. It sounded great, but I think it was not quite at its full potential since I was using my own source as transport rather than a properly modded/slaved transport. It has absolutely no jitter reduction, so you really do need to mod your transport to get it working at full potential. Until recent it was my must have source when I got the money, but I've been taken by the sound of transformer output and will likely build a DAC and use the K&K active output stage... I love my new CD player, but with the passive stage I am listening at 12-4 o'clock on the K340s and even have to max it out with some classical. The active stage also apparently adds a bit of sparkle, which wouldn't be a bad thing on my rig.
  16. The Lessloss DAC is most definately not mid-fi...
  17. The amp faceplate you did for me is definately a masterpiece Steve... Too bad the bottom left corner broke off when shipping it back from CanJam. I affixed it back on there and it doesn't look that bad and isn't very noticable, but I was pretty pissed when I saw it. I'll post some pics soon so you can see.
  18. The LessLoss is really nice, though if you want to get its full potential you need to mod your transport. Check out the RAKK dac Mark II from K&K Audio as well. I haven't heard it, but it looks really cool, and the passive output stage is very similar to what is in my new source. If DIY is an option, you might want to have a peek at the new DAC from Twisted Pear Audio [not the OPUS] as the chip in it is recieving a lot of praise. http://www.kandkaudio.com/digitalaudio.html [You can buy kits or completed items]
  19. I think I can wrassle up some pics, but they aren't very good. That picture thread in the canjam forum on head-fi has some really nice pics of my amp, but I don't think he took any close shots of the stand. Here are a bunch: http://home.cogeco.ca/~philodox/stand/
  20. I would strongly consider a modded Original CD2008 MkII. With Level 3 mods from Moon Audio, it will run you $2100 new and sounds fantastic. It handles both CD and HDCD, and because they use Lundahl transformers in the mods, they are able to output unbalanced and balanced with ease. I just bought a Level ~2 (prototype, level 1 transformers, some additional mods) that I plan on further modding myself and it sounds nearly as good, so if you want to save yourself a bit of cash, the Level 1 or 2 might be a good option. According to Drew, the amorphous core transformers that are in the level 2 and 3 mods give the unit a bit of extra sparkle and soundstage, but that you can really only hear the extra soundstage on speakers. My K340's sparkle plenty on their own, so I don't think I'll need to worry about upgrading the transformers in my unit. I can't wait for it to arrive, it has been a while since I've been this excited about a piece of gear. EDIT: Forgot to mention that he will also do custom configurations if you want. 21. Happy Birthday buddy!
  22. The lundahl transformers on the output work some kind of magic, definately a step up from the zapfilter. I suppose it could have something to do with the different dac chip and transport design though, so who knows. I hear what you are saying, but I can't help but think there must be some way we can sneak some wood in there.
  23. To be honest I didn't do much comparison between drews personal unit and the model I bought, but it sounded as good as his to me, and if anything was a bit smoother... Which is just what my rig needs. I had tons of fun hanging out with the florida crew. You were tons of fun Vickie. Sorry steve, no pics, though you can see them on the moon audio website.
  24. A moon audio modded Original CD player. In a word, outstanding. Steve, you'd better start thinking about wood accents for this.
  25. Happy Birthday!!! Also, Happy B-Day to everyone I missed on my hiatus.
