  1. That boil looks good. Potatoes, corn, and sausage. Am I just not seeing it, or did you not throw in heads of garlic as well? I don't think I am the only one who is a fan of crawfish boiled garlic.
  2. Someone has listed an SR-OMEGA on EBay for £5900. Is that seriously the going rate, because it feels crazy.

    Desk Lamps

That is cool looking. Cheaper than the one I want, but wont spend the money one. http://www.lumens.com/Eco-Task-41006-LED-Table-Lamp-by-ET2/uu427059/product I say buy it and see what you think. If you don't like it you are only out return shipping. Just make sure to keep the box. Shipping is free so they wont deduct that cost from your refund if you should decide to send it back.

    Audeze LCD-2

While I like the rosewood better, I would buy the Rev2.2? if I was to get another pair. I really like the angled connectors. The plugs would bump into my shoulders when I turned my head to the side. The LCD-3 did not have that problem.
  5. Today I feel better than I have in a few months. I had my final exam for the semester, and I passed. Now we will see If my boss gives me my job back for the summer, or if I just spend it catching up on music listening and video games. Neither option bothers me.
  6. I used that setup to run apQualizr when I had the SR-507. I could not use those headphones without EQ. Haven't used it since I sold the 507, but maybe I will download TB Isone so I can see what it is about. I wouldn't mind having a simple cross feed for some of my music, but TB Isone looks like it may do more processing than I am looking for.
  7. Have you tried running it through Soundflower and AU lab?
  8. Very saddened when I heard the news.
  9. I picked up the books. Hope to have some time with them this summer.
  10. I am going to have to disagree with you a bit. This would in no way replace the Realiser. My assumption is that this device intends to give your headphones Sigma like presentation. That would be very cool, but is no like the Realiser. As you could guess I do own one. I use it 99% of the time for movies and TV. It does a fantastic job of recreating surround sound. Sure it works for stereo too, but like you I also like the sound of my Omega2. If I use the Realiser, I lose that. This device would be cool because it should retain the headphones natural sound signature. I wouldn't buy one. Sure I would like to try it out, but it's use is too limiting. I am not an expert on audio, so I apologize if any of the information I provided is incorrect. As for your statement about the Realiser and HF, sillysally imidiatly come to mind. I would block him, but then I would miss all of the crazy that comes from his mouth.
  11. I watched season one of Game of Thrones last week. Damn that show is good. Now I have to find a way to watch season two.
  12. I kept score for little league basket ball games as my community service. It was years ago, but I think I got cought going 118 mph in a 60. Not the worst punishment I suppose. I learned my lessen, and now keep it to a reasonable speed.
  13. crappyjones123 I am sorry to hear about the lens, that is a tragedy. I like photography, but I don't think I will ever invest enough in it to buy a proper Leica. The last few days have been decent to me. Yesterday did start with a needle in the arm, but everything can't be perfect. Another year, another TB test. Tomorrow I will have it checked, but I can confidently say I do not have TB. Anyone want to let me breath on them consistently for a few weeks to prove it. After that I went by the hospital I have been working at this semester to return my security badge. Lets be honest, I only did that to get my $10 deposit back. If getting $10 dollars. Then it was off to the post office. I had to mail back the Fuji X100 I just got (defective). Next was lunch at a Kosher Deli with my sister and grandmother. The Rubin was definitely the highlight of the day. After I got home I took the dog for a walk around the neighborhood for about an hour. Not much must have happend after that, because I don't remember any of it. Today I went to class and took the HESI standardized test for 2 hours; that was not fun. I passed, but I can't say I was expecting anything else. I spent the rest of the day not studying for my final, which is in 6 days. Now it is SR-007 and Billy Joel time. If I decide to get up I may add beer to the picture.
  14. I was thinking about buying the s95 or s100, but was not sure which one. I then started looking at the X10, and somehow ended up buying the X100. The LX-5 looks interesting as well. If I had some extra cash I might buy a LX-5 to use as a secondary travel camera. It would be nice to have a zoom. I would go with the X10, but all the problems I read about it having scared me off.
  15. I had that idea a while back and posted it on HF. Either people didn't understand what I was trying to do, or didn't know why I would want to do it. Basically I am saying it didn't go over well, if I remember correctly. It still seems like a cool idea to me, so let me know if you here more about it. Obviously their would be no need for measurements at different angles, because it would all be the same. I do agree that Smyth's HDMI implementation is odd. I understand why they did it, but I am having trouble grasping how many people could actually make use of it. They don't want to pay for the rights to DD/DTS. I think the rationale is so that it never gets outdated. I am sure it also keeps costs down a little. Because of their decision the HDMI only accepts PCM. The problem is, no stand alone HDMI decoder unit exists. They have created a market for a product so small, no one will fill it. The PS3, and Oppo players I know will do it. I can also set my Mac to do it, but things like cable boxes, DVD players, Xbox360s are unusable. I don't get it. This is the way I have mine set up. PS3/Mac Mini/ Xbox360(Stereo PCM) > DVDO edge > Realiser. The Edge is perfect because it takes care of all my video processing needs, but doesn't do audio. The PS# and Mac Mini are set to output Multi channel PCM over HDMI. The 360 is unfortunately stuck at stereo for PCM output. I don't use it much, so I don't think it is worth the cost and clutter of adding a pre/pro and 6 analog cables. My apologies. I just read through an email I received while back from Lorr, and I made a mistake on my last post. The Mix Down is not a System Parameter, so not saved under the "!" button. It is a Preset Parameter, so you save it my pressing "Menu" > "P1" etc.
  16. I just want to correct a few things. The Stereo Down Mix is not volatile. I am not sure why you have to reset it every time. Either that changed in the new firmware, or you are not saving your settings properly. Pres "!" and then Save System Config. After that all you have to do is press the "Mix" button and you are good. I have mine set up with way for two channel speaker use. Second point is about the HDMI. The choice for HDMI over Toslink had nothing to do with video, at least not that I am aware. The Realier can only except decoded PCM, and Toslink can only trasport two channel PCM. HDMI can transport multi channel. As for the computer (HDMI) > Realiser, that should work. It is a question of setting up your computers audio output settings correctly. I have a Mac Mini plugged directly into the Realiser and it works just fine.
  17. I wish I could make it, but the date is just a few days too far off. I am leaving for Israel out of New York early on the 7th. Because of that I will be flying in on the 6th and staying the night. If the meet was on the 5th, I would say it would be worth paying for a room one extra night. Going up their for the 2nd would unfortunately cost too much money.
  18. I am a little confused by the response. First he says that the post schematic is of his prototype, then goes on to say any similarities are coincidental. The second part almost seems to backtrack over the first part. I don't know much aout circuit design, so when I see the two it mostly looks like squiggly lines. So to those more knowledgable. How similar are the. Possibly using a literature analogy. Would it be like he is paraphrasing the 323, or is it more blatant plagiarism. The more similar it is, the less likely I am to believe his explanation. I have no intent to buy one anyway, so I suppose this is all just for curiosity.
  19. Are you saying that high priced Russian whores are not available in Beverly Hills? I guess that will be cut off of my list of possible vacation spots.
  20. I saw an add for this show before it came out, and was hoping that it would be funny. I haven't seen it yet, but glad to hear it is worth watching.
  21. I second the buying use gear suggestion. That is what I have done. I lose a small amount of money on most resales, but I have made a few extra dollars on occasion. I can't afford to buy 8 new things at once, but thats not a big deal. Buy something used, if you don't like it, sell it to the next guy. Try and find things for sale at good prices. That way when you sell it later you only lose shipping.
  22. Fair point. stupid people can make me angry as well. I may be ignorant on a lot of the subjects that are discussed here, but that is why I don't involve myself in those conversations. I would rather just read what the more knowledgable members have to say. At least hear you are always alerted when someone has said something dumb. To think before I joined here, I believed Steve Guttenberg.
  23. I think I found Head-Case around the same time I found HF. I joined over there because it was bigger and the people seemed less angry. After a while, I thought I would come check this place out again. It turns out you aren't angry, but just don't like stupid people. I am not an expert on everything, and will not pretend to be if I am not. I never have to worry about reading any misleading statements here; if one is made it gets sorted out quick. To say the least, I am now a big fan of Head-Case.
  24. I just talked to Oppo about that the other day actually. Unfortunately the response was not very encouraging. Here is what they said. "The ability to use the player as an external DAC is something that has been requested over several generations of products but at this time we do not know when w may have audio or video inputs. It is hard enough trying to process the audio and video signal from a closed source, let alone from an external source were we have no control over the initial quality of the signal."
  25. I happen to be a big fan pissing away money. That is why when I get tired of a pair of headphones I simply throw them out.
