The K701 is sort of like a K501 for people who didn't like the K501. They took away a lot of what made the K501 special in order to improve upon the most common complaints people had of the K501. My preferences lean the same way as Steve though: I generally prefer the umpteen variations of AKG's studio phones using K240-style drivers more than the K501-style audiophile phones.
-
Why don't they just make the K500 better and make K500 be the top number and make that a little better?
-
It's actually quite similar to the K501, despite the different manufacturing process for the drivers, but edges it out slightly. It's what you'd get if you took a K501, and made the sound a little smoother and more balanced. I still like the K501 more for strings because of it's more crisp / detailed sound, but I prefer the K500 in general. The K701 doesn't even factor into the comparison, it's in its own little la-la land.

Yeah, that's true, except for the minor issue that they aren't better. Gooooo Sextett!

Or maybe it's just a generic unlabeled DVD for illustrative purposes?

So who's heard Orthodynamics, and what was your reaction to them?

If anybody else sold them on Head-Fi, they would jack it up 50% above what they paid (PayPal and shipping extra), and mention how generous they are to sell for so little. Then when nobody bites, drop the price in $5 increments, making huge PRICE DROPPED!!! announcements every time. You think anybody's gonna take you seriously with a mere $50 price increase? -
It doesn't actually exist y'know; that's why the people you recognize are just caricatures of their normal selves.

I saw the title of the thread and was gonna say "Steve's crazy woody creation," but then I see it was you who started it. Talk about stealing my thunder. -
Yeah, I hit the "lol" key by accident a lot. I'll be in the middle of typing out a serious business message, and when I review it there will be lolz all over the place. It's embarassing when I don't catch them all.

Only if they're as stiff and ugly as regular techflex.

When will AKG stop putting so much effort into that piece of crap headphone.
-
Ian, will you marry me?

I have absolutely no idea what you're trying to say. EMFDYSI?

It's probably been a decade since I've had any smarties, but now I want some.

Get back in the cage!

I spent all of $0 to build my headphone hangers:

I think the "HD" ones are ugly as sin. This coming from someone who feels the K1000 and Stax Sigma make him look sexy as can be.
-
I've sent an email asking about them. If it's cheap and in stock, you want me to just add it onto my next order?
-
Depends on which fucking part it is.
-
My money would be on the button making a bigger difference than the recable.

Well, being the one responsible for driving up the demand, I wouldn't feel right actually profitting off of that, even though it would be ridiculously easy. The funny part about it though, is it seems like the people who pay the crazy prices for them are usually the ones who don't even end up liking them that much, whereas the good deals are usually snagged by the people who do appreciate them. Was the $200 offer from haarvi? That guy has more money than sense, and he's decided to get a sextett too.

That's because you don't know the secret passphrase. I've never had problems with calling (just gotta wait a couple minutes and try again sometimes), or with email (I've had essentially real-time email conversations before).
