  1. For straight up neutral I really like the UE Ref Monitors as well, I almost bought a pair the other day when Massdrop had them for $675 Yes on the W3000s, I had sellers remorse and bought another pair
  2. btw not a fan of the miracles but ymmv, the 13 fp is pretty crazy good for the dough. I use them at home but yes I do prefer the AT w3000s at times.
  3. Chris good to hear it wasn't a break!
  4. fuck Chris I really hope it's not broken and you're up and back on the bike soon
  5. hey we agreed again their issues are not negligible their customer service and ability to anticipate customer demand and have adequate manufacturing, quality control and supply chain infrastructure sucked for a while. I'm not the biggest Andy Regan fan (bad experience when he was with Monster at CanJam 2009) but I give him props for his turn around of most of the major issues that plagued JH. Jerry has always to a fault run creative and trusted people to run the business (at least from my perspective). It looks like this time around he's got the right people for the job (I hope)
  6. ok you win I agree you feel this way Jerry been FOTM since 2009 that a long run by FOTM standards
  7. no your point seems to be ... JH should have A) Informed you of what they have in the R&D pipeline at any time so you make make an informed decision (an then bitch about it if it doesn't come out and call them names after) B ) not release a perceived better product once it is market ready because it may hurt your feelings. C) never ever ever never ever never say something is the TOTL ever never ever never !!! Because they may make something better down the road that will supersede your purchase and as a a consequence hurt your feelings Seriously I've had issues at times with customer service and ability to meet deadlines... but WTF why chastise a company for market innovation oh shit I forgot to put the smiley face in to show where just amicably chatting
  8. Dan while I hate pure vinyls interface that may work as well, very expensive for what it is IMHO but you can trial it for 2 weeks I think
  9. V just kick it in over time - I'm starting back at 50 + per week with no goal other than to ride. Once my legs go from jello to some semblance of muscle then I'll get more focused on intervals - short intense - long and mellow.... Vince at Tune says hello, I dropped the bike off for new wheels yesterday and bar tape and getting a quick adjustment when I go to pick it up.
  10. at the thing is the Angie and Layla are totally different than the 13, 16 and Roxanne from a design standpoint. The 13,16 and Roxanne are all stage monitors and are designed to replicate live sound (think like bass or kick drum experience) and all it's physicality. The Angie and Layla are designed around the studio environment so in effect the Layla and Angie will sound more alike than the Roxanne. If you like the JH line sound house sound then just stop whining about the fact that there is something more fucking expensive out there and the (oh god help me ) I don;t have the bestest there is wha wha wha... Your shit is still great I'm pretty sure it didn't change because Jerry made some new shit. They only difference is now you don;t have the perceived TOTL. I live studio monitors so the Layla is right up my alley most "audiophile like consumer high end speakers with designed in EQ to bump the bass, warm the kids and sweeten the highs.
  11. Dan the metric halo uses software (MIO Console ) that allows for 8 analog channels with multiple effects one being EQ they have both encoding and decoding RIAA. I keep thinking of getting rid of the MH (just long term gear itch) but when I look at ll I use it for (DAC, phono pre, pre amp to my Genelec 8050's and a HP amp) I'd spend $4k-6K replicating it with the loss of some functions. I am a big proponent of digital domain RIAA conversions, not sure it is the best in a total marketplace view but it is not bettered by sub $3k pre amps I have owned or heard. Yes there are other flavors, largely tube flavorings but for pure clean/neutral sound it is tough to beat IMHO.
  12. Tom do you plan on editing the vinyl as well? I play my vinyl through an ADC > RIAA>DAC and record a ton of it but it is something with a bit of a learning curve.
  13. my JH13s Freqs sound awesome until I compare them to the Roxanne or Layla. Trying to decide if I want to be that version of crazy. Very interested in the Prism and Lynx products as I have had the Metric Halo UNL-8 for years and have the itch to try new stuff. In the end I think it will be more of a side step than a step up but I'm going to demo each after the first of the year.
  14. I'd actually like to stay way south of the city and stay in maybe Carlsbad or some other spot. Hit the meet for a day and then do brewery tours in San Diego and some hikes or cycling
  15. after 2 years or so of constant weeks of 100 miles I stopped riding after a medical procedure in Sept. Damn if you don't reset back to zero quick I'm pretty much starting allover from scratch. Lucky that it comes back quick. Raffy would laugh his ass off at me if we rode today
  16. dang sorry to hear this, hoping they both make speedy and complete recoveries
  17. so I had a funny thing happen to me and my mac mini. I am a Tidal subscriber and used Chrome to stream before I realized they had a dedicated app. Suddenly I could not open pages on Safari or make connection with the iTunes store. Apparently, after a week of frustration, the cocks at google change your settings and it has the effect of fucking over safari and iTunes. I am sure there is some logical reason why google/chrome do this but what a PITA.
  18. btw cuts and nicks are pretty easily avoided with technique. With a modern cartridge razor we've all gotten accustom to using too much pressure in the grip and push down on the handle forcing contact with the blade/face. A double edge really just needs contact without much or any pressure other than the weight of the razor. First time I shaved I looked like I fell into a plate glass window and as I lightened up on grip/pressure the shaves are completely cut free.
  19. I am loving Tidal just wish it recommended better, I recall MOG talking be to some strange cool places via the recommendation feature. Also Prince Sign of the Times sounds like the selectively used two different masters as some songs are loud as fuck and others have plenty of headroom? All things considered I'm still very satisfied.
  20. just finished with the HA-1 hooked up the the Genelec 8050s and very good but a bit hard on top bass was nice though. In the end I really like this amp just don't love it.
  21. it's stupid good for $1200 on day one. I tend to decide on gear by listening to the new thing for a week or so pretty exclusively then go back to my baseline set up for comparison. So far it is astonishingly clear, clean and balanced top to bottom. I am missing some of the wetness I get in the midst with the jh13s or the metric halo/extreme set up. As an amp it is way cleaner than the extreme but maybe not as musical.
