Radiohead - The King of Limbs
Haven't gotten my newspaper album yet so I haven't heard this in a while. I did read a really interesting interview on Pitchfork with their artist Stanley Donwood, that makes a lot of sense out of what this album is. AKA I think the band is on their way somewhere new. That's what I think I meant when I called this album experimental. The only criticism that I ever had of In Rainbows is that for all its lovely songwriting it was a downer, made me feel like my heroes were getting old and lazy. They're not experimenting with sound in some crazy all inclusive way, they're just trying to find a way to be Radiohead without sounding nostalgic. Osama Bin Laden is dead
That's quite an image. Funny "prime time" scheduling, interrupting the gripping finale of Celebrity Apprentice and all. I wonder if that's what Rush is hyping today. I'm represented in the Onion News Network's fictional poll majority that would reply, "I'm so sorry but yes, I want to see this", when asked to support a Trump/Palin ticket.

Post what you're watching
I believe you failed to notice the East coast team's operations to trademark "y'all be crazy" and all related variations on my behalf. Also by directing it at a single person and removing the comically incorrect contraction 'y'all', your comment could be misconstrued as an actual pyschiatric diagnosis, rather than the innocuous joke it was constructed to be. Consider this a cease and desist as I consult on this matter with Baker & Fitzpatrick: Attorneys At Law (I found them in the phone book, kinda sleazy but they're cheap). Grahame can also of course expect his own letter soon but we considered him the small fish. We knew someday the big fish would swing by.

Cincy meet, Nov. 20.
Since I don't know who JKeny is either, let me do the simple reading comprehension exercise for you and your friend. Such extractions could in the future save you from embarrasing yourself like this again. The only reference I see that looks like J Keny in the thread is "John Kenny", as in "John Kenny Modded Hiface" that some newb brought to your meet. I tried to look up what exactly a John Kenny Modded Hiface is used for but he doesn't feel it necessary to tell us that on any of his product pages. I gather it's something digital related. So, Marc, having knowledge of this John Kenny douche and his presumably questionable business practices, pointed it out. It was a non-event until two more newbs, ignorant of the fact that the comment was not intended for or directed at them, started running around in the background talking of honor and names and the defense thereof. Good job. Then again I was only mad because I hoped that Jacob had finally gotten off his ass and planned a meet. I expected an epic thread and got this shit.

And you decided to make a personal insult out of my title. It's a term of endearment that I'm proud to wear. Looks like the jizz is on your face, not mine.

A Game of Thrones Pilot Greenlit
Mike, what's the word on how far HBO is going to go with this series? Seems like this could go a while. What kind of time frame will the book series cover? Also interesting comparing it to The Borgias. Very similar tone, themes, and images. I think they both have their strengths, but will concede that Thrones has less flaws.

What are you drinking now, pt 2.
Popped a DFH Bitches Brew earlier, the second of the two I initially bought. Much better than I remembered, may have been the time that brought it out a lot more or who knows what other conditions contributed. All I know was my first impression, it might as well have been Guinness. Followed it up with a 2011 Hunahpus. First I've popped of the new batch, although of course I had it on tap at the release. Worth mentioning that it's even better than last year's.

Why are you bumping a thread after 5 months? Your commentary is weak.

The John Cage video up there was posted with other audio so it would get flagged. Still funny.

Heh, you laugh but I really did have a stalker for a bit over my stock of Oerbier Reserva (and no, it wasn't Colin).

A Game of Thrones Pilot Greenlit
Sorry Al, just watched the episode and the catch phrase isn't coming to me. Edit: Was it "My princess can drink as much as she wants"? That's just wrong Al. Edit again: Duh, just realized it. Forgot the word was even in there. Agreed that the credits are awesome. And I too exclaimed "Boromir!". Downloading the book but jesus, 33 hours? I suppose I'll be listening in the truck.

Why not to use Ontrac (Amazon)
Guessing that PA is Amazon's closest warehouse. Order cutoff at 10:30 AM. All processed orders dumped onto trailer(s) probably by about noon and driven somewhere near the city, by about 3 PM. Then it's split out to the couriers, leaving the drivers with something like a 4 hour window. I think I see why it doesn't work all that often. If you lived in a place where there were lots of easy deliveries gathered together I'm sure you'd get same day service. They've got to route for maximum efficiency and hit the tricky spots the next morning.

Record Store Day 2011
Heh, I just bothered to see if any stores were listed in Tallahassee. Hard to imagine that Da Plugg would be ordering many obscure indie 7" stock for RSD. I delivered chicken there once. There were hardly any records but lots of paraphernalia inside and dealers outside. I'd never seen a $399 silver crackpipe before. I failed to get a picture on my phone before the dude came back from the office with my money. It was pretty special though.

You can include nefarious needles in the Cleveland list as well. And what's your problem Pak?

I've given up on ever giving up nicotine. Started looking into E-cigs, found a couple nice forums full of perfectly nice freaks who obsess over their vaporizers and e-liquids. What they lead me to is a pretty sweet little device, the Joye Ego-T. Uses a tank system to hold the liquid. Very well built little toy and very reasonable at $60-70. The e-liquid is its' own gourmet item. I ordered a dozen different flavors, several of which are tobacco themed with various brands flavor profiles mimicked. Also got a few more unique flavors like hazelnut, coke, dr pepper, rum, and a Chinese in-house creation that's quite popular and indescribable. The coolest thing is that you still get a bit of the old burn in the back of the throat, seems that some flavorings can make that effect stronger. The kit comes with two complete units and I've got lots of spare parts and sterile mouthpieces so I set up a guest kit this weekend while hanging out after the FSU spring game. The box I keep all the vials of liquid in, spare parts and empty vials, is actually a small cigar box (humidor style). The party piece is the two blunt needle syringes. I got pulled over for a random Tallahassee DUI check after the FSU game, and realized I better toss the box under the seat before the office made it to the window . It could be explained but a box of fluids and needles and batteries looks pretty nefarious.

Post what you're watching
Still trudging my way through Star Trek TNG, although it's becoming much more a background to my life for most of the episodes. I don't want to miss anything good, because some moments of this show really are satisfying. I'm about halfway through season 4 so might as well keep skimming through.

Hoffman gives up on HDCD
Hey I wanted to be one of those. I'm still pretty dubious though, so maybe it's a type that's attracted to the job, not the job that makes the type. The non-linear dynamic range of HDCD is somewhat cool, but it was always a gimmick and I'm surprised anyone ever cared. Oh wait, audiophools cared, and that shouldn't surprise me.
