  1. Any of you netbook users have tried to use Matlab or another numerical analysis application? That's probably the most demanding thing I'd do on a netbook if I decide to buy one and I'm wondering how well it performs for such tasks.
  2. Let me know if you ever want me to buy you one, they are always on sale at cheap prices here. The first album is more acoustic/folky and features a lot of great vocals, but it might be hard to enjoy when French is not your native language. On "L'Heptade", most of the tracks clock over 10 minutes and they have a good balance of vocals and instrumentals and it's the most "prog" album they've done. The lyrics are simply wonderful, I'd put Fiori on the same level as guys like Peter Hammill and Fish for writing dark and depressing lyrics.
  3. That's one good looking source. How much did you pay?
  4. Chuck Norris is the only man that can kill a bird by throwing it off a cliff.
  5. Happy birthday!

Is it possible to play an album in order or does it always shuffle the tracks? At 35$CAD, the temptation is high as it would make the perfect player for gym.
  7. If you like this one you should also check their third and last studio album called "L'Heptade" which is more introspective and darker with superb symphonic instrumentation and arrangements. One of my top 5 albums for sure.
  8. Raffy, I wouldn't get too close to Mike or you'll start buying and selling gear like crazy. Look what happened to crappyjones, he's known as an asian gear farmer now.

So true, but it's not only the organization, a bunch of (headless) fans are like that here. I still can't believe there was a riot after the Habs eliminated Boston in the first round of last year playoffs. Also, I never thought it would be Gainey's style to pull a Lamoriello, only time will tell if it's a good decision or not.

I'm not sure you can associate Carboneau and Gainey that easily, they both have different coaching styles. Gainey is calmer and more cold-blooded than Carbonneau and he's more appreciated by the players. Either way, like you, I doubt the problem was with the coach, but I still have faith that Gainey can do something about it. Also, I think Montreal is more than an average team. We finished 1st in the East last year and the team didn't change that much since then. We have very talented players, but some of them are just way too lazy (thinking about K brothers here). Anyway, you're probably still living in the past with the Nordiques and all that. OK, I've already talked way too much about hockey with friends today and this is starting to feel like a Ron Fournier show.
  11. I've never done a power cable blind test myself, but I don't see how theory could back up any perceptible change other than placebo effect. There are many audio shops that are willing to lend power cables for a short period of time to try in your system, you could always do that if you want to form your own opinion.

Well, to be fair, it seems like Carbonneau didn't have a good relationship with many players in the team (Laraque, B

Wow, Carbonneau fired and Gainey back behind the bench. I didn't see that one coming. Canadiens fire Carbonneau, Gainey takes over as coach
  14. Beautiful! Who's the lucky buyer?
  15. Caravan - In the land of grey and pink I love the smooth relaxed style of this album.
  16. Not exactly my experience. I'll be jealous if you send them the package tomorrow and receive your pair before mine, I've been waiting for a long while. Looks like the high pitch squeal happens almost on every pair documented here or on Head-fi, I hope the newest revisions of the model will fix this.
  17. Just stop posting man, this is textbook Head-case fail.
  18. I stopped reading at the word "grunge".
  19. Drink impressions? Stone IPA is good stuff, I tried that last year at the Montreal beer fest and it's the kind of beer I'd have in my fridge all the time if it was available here.
  20. No, but go for the 7200 anyway if the price difference is not too big, you'll appreciate the faster speed. Yes, but don't buy it from Apple.
  21. The actual Mikhail is already a malfunctioning clone of the real Mikhail. No one knows what happened to the original one.

Man, those Florida meets must be the pinacle of whisky tasting headphone meets.
  23. Citizen Cain - Serpents in Camouglage
  24. Don't want to scare you, but you have a long way to go before you even do half as much as what the real Danny has done for the audio hobby. You could start by coming to the Montreal meets.
