The Headcase Stax thread
Instantly, but IMO it always sounds best with a little warm-up of the amp.

Official Thread: Joe Grado will not be at "Yes, We CANS 2009"
Since it's in Illinois, the event should be called "Yes, we Cans" 2009.

The Headcase Stax thread
There was a rattling sound in one of the drivers. It's a typical problem from what I've read about these phones, but some people say Koss corrected this with the latest revision of the drivers. I recabled the Koss with a Stax extension cable to use with the KGSS when I had it, but I did put back the original cable after I sold the amp to be able to use the E90 again. I did also remove the thin layer of foam that touches the ears (behind the earpads) because there was already a small hole in it when I bought the phones, but I don't think it changed anything to the sound.

I sent my ESP950 (which is the old version I believe) to Koss a week ago. I'll be able to confirm if it's a new version of the drivers when I get them back.

PS-1s for sale on the 'Bay
They are only available once a month, we don't know how they'd sell if they were in stock on HR or TTVJ. Also, they had a bad rep at the time they were released, but they gained in popularity and respect since then. At a street price similar to the GS-1000, I bet they'd do pretty well, but I'm no accountant so it's just a wild guess.

PS-1s for sale on the 'Bay
What I don't get is, Grado must still have all the tools to produce PS-1s and there is apparently a decent market for these cans, so why don't they release more of them? At the original TTVJ price, I'd consider getting a pair as they do things very few other headphones do.

who the hell buys this shit...
Hendrix fans should throw purple P51s at your face for saying such stupidities.

does anyone try the LA5000 or LA7000?
Nothing false in that. If that's what he hears, he has a right to have his own opinion. There are no absolutes, false, wrong, true, etc. in audio because hearing is damn subjective. My opinion is that the D5000 sucks in general from the short audition that I had with them and I thought they were outclassed by Stax Gamma driven by a transformer, but my impressions aren't more true than markl's opinion. With that said, what is very wrong is the fact that he uses his experience with high-end cans (R10 in this case) to convince noobs that they don't need to spend 3000$ to get top of the line headphones.

Windows advice.
Install her an easy to use Linux distro and you'll never have to deal with spyware, virus and all that stuff. You can make the desktop look very similar to Windows if she's used to having a taskbar and start menu on the bottom of the screen.

Brand new to Head Case....
Welcome to Head-case, sorry about your thin skin (and the back of your head). Try making one and see what happens.

Packing Stuff?
I usually reuse boxes that I receive, but I had to go to Staples (called Bureau En Gros here) once to buy a big box and bubble wrap. Prices were decent from what I remember.

Quick Google search... the guy was banned from Head-fi a couple of days ago. His posts there were mostly trolling like this. Go back to your crack smoking church and leave us sinners alone.

- Q&A: Microsoft defends return to DRM
The guy who answers the questions doesn't seem very confident that the product will sell. IMO, Microsoft should stick to making computer software and hardware, I don't think they can fight with Apple at this point for online music and music players.- The Headcase Stax thread
I hope we won't see people buying SARN-modded Lambdas or stuff like that. I wonder when she'll actually get a MOT title, I've reported 5-6 of her posts in the last 6 months.- Happy Birthday HighLife!
Happy birthday, I hope you'll roll a big one today.- Editing my own custom title?
It didn't take you long to become corrupted, you power-hungry communist.- Making a Silver APC Black
Steve Jobs led the way on that one with black MacBooks costing 300$ more than the white for subtle hardware differences.- Upgraded to vBulletin 3.8
Postjack, have you tried clearing the cache or reinstalling Firefox?- What's going on with HeadRoom?
I dig the look of that amplifier, looks solid and very classy at the same time.- Lost
Depends if you care or not about the (shitload of) loose ends, but the concept is very original compared to most TV shows and it keeps me on the edge of me seat most of time. I have to say though that I watched the first three seasons on DVD and it would probably have been more frustrating if I had watched it live because the episodes rarely leave you with answers, only more questions.- Lost
Lost is coming back tonight! I think the show's been getting better with every season and I can't wait to see what the authors have in mind for the last two seasons. It's actually the only American TV show along with House that I've watched every single episode and that's been consistently good from the beginning IMO.- There's something wrong in Colorado...
Out of curiosity, does Mikhail have a day job also or he works "full time" for Singlepower?- The Headcase Stax thread
That's also my feeling, they were awesome out of the KGSS DX and the Cambridge 840A/SRD-7 Mk2, but they're just ok out of the E/90 and are outperformed easily to my ears by the HD650 out of the 840A headphone out. I'm pretty much sourceless for the moment though (unless iPod counts) while waiting for a Pico so my impressions are not exactly accurate. I shouldn't have sold my Duet so fast. - Q&A: Microsoft defends return to DRM
