  1. I saw the auction a couple of days ago, but forgot about it. Thanks for reminding me, I put a bid just for kicks.
  2. FWIW, I sent my Koss ESP950 to the factory 2 weeks ago without any cable attached for a buzzing problem in one of the drivers. I'll report back when they get home. Worst case, if they don't want to replace it, I'll just solder back the original cable and send the phones again.
  3. If I remember correctly, there's a layer of black foam under the earpads that is glued to the plastic. There are screws at the 4 corners, so you can just lift the corners to see the screws or remove the whole sheet of foam like I did. After that, it should be pretty straightforward. The pads are a bitch to put back though.
  4. Are the ESP10 anything like the ESP9? These were definitely one of the worst headphones I've ever tried. The sound was cavernous and it felt like wearing a heavy football helmet on your head. I wouldn't spend a second modding the ESP10 if they're anything like their older brother.
  5. Happy birthday!
  6. Wow, I hope everything turns out well for you Ken. My thoughts are with you and let us know if you need something.
  7. I can understand you don't want to do an estimate, but just to give an idea, would this fit in the 1k$-2k$, 2k$-3k$, 3k$+ ?
  8. Wow, big money in a little package, that cart costs something like 60$/cm
  9. Happy birthday!
  10. Cool! I find that VdGG is truly a great band and very original for its time and even in today's standards. I saw PH last summer and he did put out an interesting show. Not particularly chatty, but very intense as usual.
  11. Thanks for the tip, I never thought of that before.
  12. Van Der Graaf Generator - Pawn Hearts Any VdGG fans here? I don't think I've ever seen them mentioned.
  13. John E Woven would only attend the meet if it was located in the Head-case chatroom.
  14. I did -30dB with two-tone and -15dB with music using HD650 straight out of the MacBook. I'll try again later with a better setup, but I've had my dose of Tracy Chapman for today.
  15. If you don't mind, how did they sound? Stax speakers intrigue me.
  16. Pretty cool link I've found on H-F, it's a bunch of A/B tests to measure how well you can hear distortion. The tests are simple and well-made and you can compare your results with the average of the other participants at the end. Audibility Of Distortion
  17. ATH-AD2000 would be a good choice, but you won't find them in the price range you're looking for. I heard these phones in various setups at meets and I thought they were very fast for dynamics and performed well with acoustic music, but their sound signature was a little bit too harsh for my tastes. Also, I thought they lacked a little bit of bass quantity, but I can see why many people like these cans. I don't know if you have experience with electrostatics, but if you don't mind stetching your budget a bit, the SRS-2050 system would be my pick at 600$ new and much less if you can find it used.
  18. Thanks for sharing your opinion. The Headcase pico Lovefest: Post your impressions here Looking for Pico competitors Last Minute Check Before I Buy A Pico and hundreds of threads like that on Head-fi also...
  19. How should we know if you need a Pico? You're the only one to know if the purchase is justified because we don't know anything about your tastes. I don't really understand these kind of threads and it's one of the main reasons why I spend much less time on Head-fi. I hope this is not a trend that will start here too.
  20. Attacking a member with good technical knowledge on something he didn't say = asshat.
  21. Happy birthday Jason!
  22. Head-Fi.org: Headphones, iPod earphones, portable audio, MP3 players, high-end audio You have a better chance to get info over there, I believe there are some members from the Philippines. Otherwise, ask good ol' Google.
