  1. Happy birthday man, have a good one!
  2. Roine Stolt - Wall Street Voodoo Shpongle - Nothing lasts, but nothing is lost I've listened briefly to both albums and they're excellent. I was familiar with The Flower Kings, but this Roine Stolt solo album is very far from prog, it's more like 70's bluesy classic rock. The Shpongle album is very good, trippy music with some similarities to Infected Mushroom, but smoother and even weirder. Good job on your music choice Jackson!
  3. 160$CAD (131$US) for a 22'' LCD monitor, not a bad deal in my book.
  4. Michael Angelo Batio is not my kind of stuff, but his double guitar thing is cheesy to the point of being very funny. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nM8-_ikFX6I]YouTube - Michael Angelo Double Guitar[/ame]
  5. Joyeux anniversaire Ken!
  6. Forgive me father Jack for I have sinned, I shouldn't have sold the holy Stax O2 in 2008.
  7. Das Lied von der Erde, Gustav Mahler
  8. Christmas gift for my Dad:
  9. I just got a pair of SR-001Mk2 delivered to my house by another head-fier. Listening to them right now and the mids are truly fantastic, it reminds me once again of why I prefer stats over dynamic headphones. It's not a fair comparison because they're an open design, but let's just say that these Stax eat for dinner every IEM I've tried. I'll post more impressions in a few days.
  10. I know, but try to explain that to a normal CNET customer. What I meant by "plug & play" is that the phones can't be plugged directly into an iPod which is probably the main criteria for the MP3 crowd. Anyway, you knew what meant.
  11. Peter Gabriel (1980) a.k.a. Peter Gabriel 3 a.k.a. Melt
  12. I would have loved to see some Stax too, but we've got to admit they're not really "plug & play" headphones. I think the listed headphones make sense considering the CNET crowd and they're all generally well-respected cans by the average head-fier. I have listened to the D5000 at a meet and they were really not my type, but I have no idea about the other two.

    Deals

    Wow, awesome deal.
  14. Do you make gourmet pizzas?
  15. 2008 I experimented with a couple of portable amps at the beginning of the year (SuperMini, SuperMacro, Mini^3) to realize and I didn't really need one and sold every one of them. I also bought and sold ApureSound ER4S cable. I then bought a pair of HD600 and a M^3 amp. It was powered by a cheap 0404 USB DAC, but I was fairly satisfied with that setup. Some time after that, I auditioned Stax SR-404 and Stax O2 and decided it was the direction I wanted to take, so I sold the HD600 and M^3 and bought a pair of Lambda Signature and a SRM-Xh amp. The Lambda Signature were awesome, but a good deal came up here on a pair of O2Mk1, so I bought these and sold the Sigs. A good deal also came up on a SRM-T1S amp, so I bought it and sold the SRM-Xh. I also bought an Apogee Duet to replace the 0404USB. Then, I wanted to see what the O2 were capable of so I bought the KGSS DX. The O2/KGSS setup was very lovely and definitely my best headphone experience to date. I decided after that to dip my toes into speakers so I bought a pair of Quad 12L2 and a Cambridge 840A integrated amp. Sometime between all that, I also bought a pair of Koss ESP-950 and a Stax SRD-7 Pro transformer box. Recently, after realizing that I don't listen to music at home as much as I should because I'm always on the go, I decided to go minimalist and sold a lot of stuff. As of now, I have my good old pair of Ety ER4S, Koss ESP-950, Quad 12L2, Cambridge 840A and the Apogee Duet. There are some other headphones that came and go very fast: Sennheiser HD25-1, Westone 3 and the soon-to-go UE Triple.fi 10 Pro. 2009 It will be the year of DIY. I plan on learning a lot of stuff about amps and how to build my electronics. I also plan on selling the rest of my stuff minus the Etys and go with a super-minimalist rig: Pico w/Dac -> Stax SRM-001/SR-001Mk2. The Pico w/DAC was obtained in a trade with Justin and I should get it in a few weeks and I should get the Stax SR-001Mk2 this weekend.
  16. Discipline must be fun in 5.1, there are a lot of melodies and effects going on at the same time.
  17. Considering some of the stupid portable rigs that people post on Head-fi with V-docks and 10 gauge cables, your idea doesn't seem so crazy and I bet it would smoke the typical portable rigs.
  18. Is it French Canadian (QWERTY) or French (AZERTY)? If you have one spare, I'd be interested since my Unicomp order hasn't been processed yet. Let me know.

    Greetings!!

If you take some time to browse the forum and read a couple of threads, you'll see that head-casers are only hostile when hostility is needed. Otherwise, people here have a very good sense of humor, but it's not the same kind of inane humor that you and your friends practice on Head-fi.
  21. I'm looking forward to the next version of OSX and I really hope it's going to be focused on stability like they announced. Leopard is a good OS, but I find it's quite buggy and a lot of its innovations seem unfinished, like Spaces and Stacks. These two features could have been so much better than they are now, I hope they're going to improve these.
  22. He's not a very regular goalie and he's overpaid considering his stats. I liked him he was in Montreal, but I think the Blackhawks got ripped off for signing him at more than 5M$ a year.
  23. HeadphoneAddict is the one who brought the debate on a personal level, nobody questioned his integrity before he started acting like an 8 years old schoolboy. My post about him being a FOTM starter was merely an observation, I didn't accuse him of anything. It's hard to deny that his writing style and online character make his reviews very prone to start FOTMs, it's pretty much a fact if you look at all his "followers" on Head-fi. BTW, I'm out of this debate because it's becoming pointless very fast.
