Nate I don't have Internet access now, but I was thinking of trying the magclamps (?) that woodcraft sells to apply downward pressure to the material. I'm not sure if they will work well, but seems like they might. When I've seen people rip aluminum panels with a good saw, it almost seems like no effort at all. I talked a good bit with barrredboss on eBay and got a few tips from him, but he sees no reason why this setup won't work with even 3-4" material (heatsinks) and get a smooth cut..

It's the 14" Powermatic that Woodcraft sells, which sells for the same price as the above. It's definitely geared towards woodworking though, and in the end I wanted the slower blade speeds...

ooh oops: JET Tools - It's a Jet, but it's part of their metalworking line, not the woodworking. However, like I said, it can run the blade fast enough to accomodate wood (this faster for wood and slower for metal is some strange paradox that I have to admit I don't really understand, but hey...) I'm sad because one I looked at the Powermatic line, I could have gotten cooler features for the same price.

Changed my mind a few times on the bandsaw, kept wanting lower and lower speeds, as well as the ability to do wood. So, the final choice (just ordered) can do 39, 57, 78, 107, 142, 196, 278, 3300 speeds. I had to give up some of the cooler features (chip blower, etc.) that some of the other saws offered, but in the end I think I'll be pleased with the flexibility in blade speed.

Ha! Better than a thumb drive I suppose...

cool, I've been waiting for someone to recommend one of these. Do you have some sort of cradle to mount the device picked out? Can anyone tell me how to manually associate album art in iTunes? 80% of my stuff doesn't get picked up by the "find album art" button, and I'd like to manually add them...

I'll answer with a question. What's the difference in sound between a good fit and bad seal? It's like another small percentage of that diference all over again, in my opinion. Not to mention comfort and durability and aesthetics.

very soon, this once I figured out how to get it home: Woodcraft is going to honor the 10% off Jet, Powermatic thingy they were having a while back.. which is strange, as it's not on their website, but looks like they'll be hooking me up. This the next model up from the one Dr. Wood recommended, which gives a total of 12" native resaw capacity with no riser block, and a two speed drive system. From talking around, people recommended the two speed for metalworking. The speeds are 1500/3000 SFPM with a 105" blade. Also, has a blade guard that the lower model didn't as well as blade tracking window, which seems handy. Anyways, I'm really excited about getting my second star on my man card.. I heard the main requirement was a 250 lb tool for the second star... ... oh and a house.

welcome to the curse. I have to keep up appearances though, but yeah that's a struggle for me. The KGSS is better in this regard than either the BH or BHSE to my ears. If the nextgen solid state amp ever materializes, I'd have very high hopes for that design.

8020 has an idea book that contains all sorts of rack ideas. I would shoot them an email and see if you can get a copy... Great place to buy angled aluminum as well and large pieces of aluminum, such as blocks, etc. They also have an eBay store that sells among their main line, cut offs and seconds..
