  1. looking for some beta volunteers?
  2. you'll want a custom curve attenuator most likely. Nothing off the shelf will work. Also, get the gain as low as you can and have the amp still be stable. That being said, I wouldn't do it.
  3. the hell? strange things those are.. looks like a good way to scavenge sockets though
  4. this is the "passive battery" bias circuit
  5. those are some huge fracking caps man!
  6. Doug: I have just done this in fact, and used it to calibrate a LNMP. My source is 1.99 V balanced and 1.99 V single ended.
  7. ouch! I'm assuming you and the carboy survived though?

You did hurt you back lifting that crap load of maple for me, right? Seriously though, take it easy man!

with only one instance of said capitalization scheme, we cannot tell if it was random or not. Even with unlimited instances, we still cannot be certain if it is random or not. silver sounds better.
  11. I wonder if one possibility is that they've narrowed the problem down to too high bias, and when the headphones (and amps) come in for repair, they lower the bias on the amp. I remember them being unwilling to just fix the headphones, you had to include the amp as well, so that's sorta the basis of my crazy theory.
  12. I'm glad he hooked it up right
  13. I'm increasingly finding that less capacitance sounds better than more. For the currents needed for a low power headphone amp, try to keep it around 100uF. I'd be curious to hear what you think.
  14. I'd recommend upgrading to at least 2.1.0.2 http://diptrace.com/downloads/dipfree_en.exe
  15. Chris: The newest (dev) version has a shape based autorouter that is much better. What version do you have?

getting in good with the organizers is first on my agenda
  17. I wonder how close it needs to be effective? I'd be curious how it turns out.
  18. I actually gave my second one to Goodwill yesterday
  19. I use the $10 harbor freight one, that looks very similar to the one Nate posted. It works okay.
  20. well, i had an aging bow fund that never seemed to have enough money in it to do anything useful... so I spent half of it, and let my wife have the other half for new house stuff. Funny thing, mpwi is that they claim to have various weights. I was sorta surprised by this, but they have to be requested from the factory. I choose 60g, because I've always had lighter bows (56-58g). I wanted to try this because my right hand technique (okay, swt61 I see you over there) pretty much has gone down hill since I haven't been playing much. So much so, that I wanted something that is sort of even across various spectra. Also, I've always been a "right shoulder shrugger" (sort of elevate and compress my right shoulder) and don't seem to really use my natural arm weight to draw sound from the instrument. I'm sort helping that a change in scenery will help me focus on this more.
  21. damn Colin. Nice work there.
  22. damn, nice stuff in this thread. Me, an empty box from Krell and this:
