  2. perhaps you were hearing your phono cartridge?
  3. I'd recommend asking for the tuple of (headphone, tubes, music track)
  4. Here's hoping the Icelandic custom is similar to the Eastern tradition, where the gifts are given instead of received on one's birthday A round of bread anyone?
  5. damn, I want the pixies back! Anyways, I think they sound pretty sweet stock. I prefer them over the usual dynamic crowd. I'm looking for the extra 5% or so, nothing drastic.
  6. pretty expensive day on the DIY front. Bought a bunch of Neutrik parts at Mouser (mostly various PCB mount XLR jacks and parts for Team 4-pin XLR) and bunch of semiconductors. Upgraded my Diptrace License to the 1000-pin 4-layer version.
  7. excellent then. Perfect for sabotaging other peoples 'stats at meets!
  8. heh, nothing like a T50v1 to draw people out from the woodwork.... er draw the community together. Heck, dBel84 didn't even understand the question and he volunteered So, let me rephrase the question: who has modded the T50v1, or heck even opened one up, or am I going to have to think of something real good to bribe wualta with?
  9. When should we tell her that she got the placebo BHSE? It's really 10 Amphora's fed into each other with 10 separate wall wart supplies.
  10. yes, yes there was. But, I fixed it. So, there.
  11. what's he going to run them off of, his new plasma TV output?
  12. no I haven't in fact. What would you change (besides comfort, obviously)? Like you said, I'm not sure what can be changed ...
  13. More clarity and more forward highs spring to mind, plus a general health check
  14. ooh, fancy: diyAudio.com
  15. Spritzer was trying to clarify the fact that at that time this cable was made, Stax had already introduced the 5-pin jack. I think we both intrepreted your comment "And the reason for the 6-pin jack is that it was what they had" as meaning that Stax only had 6-pin jacks and the 5-pin jack didn't exist yet.
  16. yeah, so gets the head-case seal of approval for mods? I don't really follow the ortho thread, but I know swt61 and a few old timers do...
  17. so, who's the Fostex T50v1 tweak king? yeah, I like the Audez'e. When can I start listening to them? I don't want to listen too soon, I heard that screws up burn-in.
  18. mine just arrived! Frame is much nicer than it looks in the pics. Much easier to drive than I imagined. Good attention to driver to ear placement. Comfortable. I have a small gap where I always have a gap, behind my ear and down a bit, but hard to say if this is a big deal (it is on the SR-007 for example) What looks to be a lack of decent strain relief on the drivers is a bit worrisome, but I haven't opened them up, just peeked in the hole. Cable... who provided input on this? Sorry, fail. Ok, queuing the test material up
  19. I think their measurement mics are decent.. not compared to a DIY version, but still decent.
  20. Are you kidding me? You should be all eyes instead, as I suspect you haven't even looked for one.
  21. I'd say definitely not, but that's just me.
  22. Muse Model Nine Signature -> Millet Starving Student -> Fostex T50v1
  23. We're working on it Boards have been purchased and should be here pretty soon!
  24. I suppose it depends on how good Justin's warrantee is
  25. sometime the obvious is less obvious. I'd probably have gotten more looks if I said "I'm not really into ground channels".
