  1. exactly. I think it's more either a theoretical dislike, or people who don't like output transformers and think somehow that carries over to input transformers.
  2. I think the problem with input transformers is people don't tend to know how to use them, by not respecting the input and output impedance. I think they can sound fantastic. For example, what configurations have you heard them in Dreadhead?
  3. Is it really possible to draw 100mA from the 10M90S?
  4. meh. Kandinsky?
  5. Lol. It is 104F with 30% humidity here. I dropped a package in the mail today to enable Colin. I figure this is always a good thing
  6. Either condition will make the entire statement false. Simple grammar my friend.
  7. At what age are you able to buy something like that?
  8. nice find Steve!
  9. Do they need any voltage gain? What about a simple buffer?
  10. So, working on another panel. This time, everything is PCB mounted. Unfortunately, I cannot get everything to look just right. I'm using a PCB mounted DACT attenuator, and due to the slots in the extrusion, I cannot get it exactly to be at center. Also, I have two switches on the front that are used to control input section. One on the left and one on the right. My question is, what sort of text to I put above / around the switches? On the rear, I label one input "A" and the other input "B". The toggle goes up and down, not side to side. I cannot find anything that looks right to me. I have "Left Input" and "Right Input" over the switches and nothing else at the moment. I'll post the panel later on, as somehow FPE crashed and I lost my work ...
  11. SSMH kit from Tom. What an insanely good value. I cannot remember the last time I bought a full kit, and it serves as a gentle reminder of the insane number of parts that go into even the most simple builds. The packaging is hands down the best I've ever seen, including anything I've attempted through my various group buys. I nominate Tom B. to put together some T2 kits
  12. did you just swap parts, or did you also ensure the part changes didn't cause instability? Looks from Doug's analysis that this requires more care than the typical "modder" is willing to take...
  13. ok, to answer Doug's question, the case from FPE is $165 shipped. The ends are 3.0mm thick and 181.2mm x 56mm and contain ~30 holes and some text. The front is $24 and the rear is $35. The 2.5mm thick bottom panel contains a few vent holes and the necessary cavity to fit into the extrusion. It is $44. The top is approximately the same price and contains two larger holes for the tubes. Total size for each is 167mm x 228.6mm. The extrusions themselves are $7 each and are 228.6mm long. I didn't include any hardware, as I would want fancier fasteners than what they sell. Grr..
  14. what are the dates?
  15. (100) 1.0 ohm 2W resistors @ Digikey (P1.0W-2BK-ND) and a few other things for testing a few new prototypes...
  16. socketed relays. Now, why didn't I think of that?
  17. Power conditioner? Night lights?
  18. Parts Connexion. Check out the Teflon Composite for the 12ax7 and 6SN7 (no loktal PCB mount I know of)... PcX is cheaper than the 'bay on these last I checked. For 845, not too many options to choose from. Slightly cheaper than the tefcom sockets are Azuma sockets, also available at PcX. If you want to spend some money, there is always Yamamoto:
  19. Audez'e LCD-1
  20. cool stuff
  21. spent the last 10 hours cracking a piece of software... still not finished. This is the one thing you always outsource to the Russians, they're really good at it these days. So far, this binary does the following: garbage code. lots of it hides OEP, replaces original code with metamorphed garbage code. damaged import table does not use "GetProcAddress" but directly traverses DLL export table rdtsc crap closes Olly windows and other anti-debugging tricks SEH nonsense damaged EXE header has its own TLS table ... and more.. Still not done, but a lot closer.
  22. The size is too large to take advantage of most prototyping deals, so it will be pretty expensive, probably 3x-4x that cost would be my guess.
