  1. Endured more power outages, but, thankfully, without a side of u contained wildfire. Noticed that the local cell tower went dark ~4hours after the power, so that's it's battery backup gone, I guess. This morning we went looking for hot Coffee and a 4G signal with internet connectivity (not a given). I am reliably informed that in the first world nations of The East Bay, and The City, they have both and Electricity! We eventually got lucky at our local Solar Powered supermarket to the Bourgeoisie. Power, Speciality Coffee and Queues. Later got an internet connection just in time to intercept the weekly call with my mum. Which was nice. Currently parked on elevated terrain with comms to the outside world, fast charging the nerd phones from the car. Apparently this situation is on again, off again for the next week (and structurally for the next decade if PG&E are to be believed) Fun Times! EDIT: curiously , spam calls, ads and emails are still getting through!
  2. Any good Компромат, comrade?
  3. More power outage prepping
  4. Pre power cut Ice Cream at a neighbors. Why run the risk of it melting because of circumstances beyond your control, when you can just eat it instead! Thanks PG&E.

  18. Mature perhaps. It still has more than enough grunt for the tasks at hand, and is still getting regular software updates, both for the base OS/Experience and the apps. For couch based control the remote and voice commands work well enough, and you can always pair a keyboard / trackpad if you need that for your use case. Nothing wrong with a mac mini if it meets your use cases. Interested in what edge cases it addresses that cant be met by an Apple TV these days for those in that ecosystem.

All the usual suspects on the streaming app front(Youtube Netflix , Amazon prime Video and music, both in 4K HDR) + kodi. I Don't use Hulu so cant say , but it's there, as is the Tivo app. Handles Live TV via Silicon Dust Cable Card in my case. https://www.androidauthority.com/best-android-tv-box-2-1021123/
