What are you listening to Part the Third
Yeah, it's funny what people think prog is any more, either. Half the time, it's just songs that aren't based on loops.

Thinking ... I don't even know what to think...Positive, lava-stopping, earthquake-gentling thoughts in a general Icelandic direction.

Thank you so much for your input, Antonio. You have never steered any of us wrong, so I will heed and continue calling around until I can get on a waitlist. And I apologize for my cranky tone earlier, to both of you. I would prefer this thread be reserved for celebrating original music by our members, so I will see if I can move these messages to another thread, or at least split it off from this one. POS health care == medicaid + no income/savings left to spend on myself. Just arranged to sell off some stock and transfer it to myself, because I agree with you -- it needs to be taken care of ASAP, even if it needs to be at my own cost.

Music Making
Yes, I know that, but the earliest appointment I could get was March and when I found that out, it just depressed me and I shut down. Monday is going to be spent calling around to every single ENT / Audiologist available to me, and take the earliest appointment I can find. Everyone (including my GP!) wants to victim blame because it happened while at the range, but I do care about my hearing and use protection all the time while shooting (and still do), and used hearing protection at EVERY SINGLE poprock CONCERT I ever went to except the first one in 1978 because I didn't know. I was using hearing protection that day, but I was the only one using my lane and I was trying to hear my instructor so I took out my (Etymotic triple flange) earplugs (which were perfectly adequate for shooting -- the 22TCM/TCM9R is a loud cartridge) for a second, and someone fired a large caliber rifle in the next lane (outdoor range -- even though it was on the other side of a barn/garage, it still carried because of the acoustics of the way things were setup). I think that's how it happened. Either that or the action of removing the earplugs did something because there was a seal and a "thwok" when I pulled it out, but I've already had my ears looked at by two different people and they said it looks a little red but that's it -- I still have an eardrum, I guess. On top of getting an appointment, I will be looking into programmable hearing aids and certain therapies and figuring it out myself, because I have to keep interviewing.

I got an email from Brian Wampler apologizing to me -- personally! -- for selling out his new Germanium Tumnus before he even had a chance to advertise it to me. Does that count? No, seriously, I damaged my hearing a couple weeks ago, and now I just want to throw everything in the river. I went to a (someone else's) gig tonight, and half the time it sounded like there was a ring modulator over the whole mix. Grating. If I could cry, I would. As it is, I mourn. This is groovy as the aging hippie chick I saw dancing earlier tonight. Great stuff.

On Bacon
But...but...but...what if the pig bacon eats lettuce?!?!? And what if the lettuce grows in mulch which contains composted bacon?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Which Cooking Are You?
Curry is always a nice touch (I've been doing that since the 80's). Also, frying any additional spices in a little bit of oil really brings out the flavour (I should have been doing that all along as well, but only discovered how much of a difference it makes last year, and was reminded of it on Thanksgiving). Although you probably knew that.

What are you EATING right now?
Veggies. Doctor yelled at me last week, said I was prediabetic, so time to get back on the diet horse.

Killing Joke. I just hit play on Spotify, so whatever comes up. Currently: Love Like Blood. Egad, what a huge sound. And he tuned a whole step down! My man!

RIP someone or another
Aw, man, what a seminal sound. I still want an ES-295. That was always one of the things that turned me off about the common wisdom of hollowbody guitars -- he taught people that it wasn't just for jazz.

The Knuckledragger 3rd Memorial Slow Forum Post
Hello fellow old people. Just to dogpile: It is a trick question, they are all ways to connect to a printer. In college, we used to play games with commands to make that printer scream, suffer, soil paper, jam, and eventually die.

Started watching the first episode of Squid Game: The Challenge (weird show) and I noticed they were playing this (just the two-note motif) during the Red Light/Green Light scene towards the end of the game, so of course now it's stuck there (in my mind, wherever it is). Would've been funnier if it was "Monkey's Gone to Heaven".

World War 3 Thread
I totally agree with the points you're making -- everyone wants to see an end to this madness, cease-fire on both sides, living in peace and harmony, but no-one can envision how to get there from here. Especially when something like October 7 happens, which cannot be ignored. I applied for a job for a company in Israel right before October 7. I would like to ping them again, but I don't know how to even broach the subject of, "hey, are you all alright?" I'm afraid I might be turned into an anti-Hamas extremist, myself.

Which Cooking Are You?
Google just suggested to me "hamburger soup" recipe on Preppy Kitchen, and there were links to "lasagna soup", "chicken pot pie soup", and "taco soup" -- is that what inspired you to try that?

World War 3 Thread
Re: John Oliver -- he's not entirely unbiased. He still does the same thing the rest of the liberal media (and Roger Waters) does to Israel in terms of expressing outrage over their actions. Oh, and I definitely disagree with him about children. I FUCKING HATE CHILDREN. I have had that protective instinct completely taught out of me BY CHILDREN who tried to drop things on my head while I was moving back in March and April. I hope those kids die, and soon.

Same. I stand with Israel, and that's all I'll say about it. We're going to have enough problems of our own if Trump wins the primaries. And different ones if he doesn't. over the next year.

Wait, the lyrics to "Danger Zone" were written by Giorgio Moroder?!?!?
