  1. No, he's been battling cancer for 18 months, so he was already 6 months in when he recorded it, I think it's the other way around -- it was a -- very deliberate, admittedly -- swan song. A "going away gift", as it were.
  2. Apparently, this was all according to plan. He was a fucking artist to the end. He recorded it in the early months of 2015 and saved releasing it until his death was imminent. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/celebritynews/12092542/Bowies-last-album-was-parting-gift-for-fans-in-carefully-planned-finale.html
  3. Yeah, I thought you of all people might be interested. Yeah, I've got some iDollars, will check it out, thanks for the rec. There were several other apps gone over, too, I should hurry up and rewatch the video and make a catalog of which ones I want. I loved that feedback algorithm, although I already have a pretty sweet feedback sound in my Roland JP8080.
  4. Blackstar is sublime, a masterpiece of a swansong, but it's too short to listen to over and over in one day -- supplementing with some older catalog. Alright, all of the older catalog.
  5. This made me laugh on an otherwise emotionally bleak day.
  6. He made 'pushing the envelope' cool. An important influence that I have serious doubts could ever exist in today's market. He will be sorely missed. RIP, Bowie
  7. Jordan Rudess live on Facebook -- going deeply into GeoShred, will definitely be getting this. https://www.facebook.com/jordanrudessofficial/videos/vb.8717682988/10153448134877989/?type=2&theater&notif_t=live_video
  8. Nice presentations on all of them!
  9. So a perfect score, then?
  10. Galavant season 2 "I like drinking vino, preferably Pinot..." "I prefer a keg of beer." "I like getting randy with whoever's handy..." "I prefer a keg of beer." "I love massages, long walks and sunsets..." "Beer beer beer beer beer beer beer."
  11. So there was a limited run by "Wired Guitarist" of PRS SE Custom 24 sixes and sevens. This was several months ago. They've just started delivering to the retailer. I got one of the purple ones.
  12. Relistening now He's saying, "aboop".
  13. Yeah, it's like someone bukkaked all over my Facebook feed with mentions of this and his birthday (today, BTW). I need to hear this.
  14. Opeth -- all the recent stuff since -- Pale Communion, Watershed, Ghost Reveries, Heritage.
  15. Black Mirror: White Christmas was delightfully bleak "http://icanhas.cheezburger.com/" is legit.
  16. Now that's a bridge.
  17. Unholy carp, that was fantastic. I don't remember liking season 8 very much, too cold war-ly, but this was even more cold war-ly, mayhaps sometime between then and now I "bought in"? Anyway, may revisit season 8 at some point, see if I got over myself. Or whatever it was, the problem.

  19. A Very Murray Christmas -- which is delightfully bleak -- and Miley's voice stands out (in a good way), although I dare say that her mic costs probably 100x what the other ones cost (and is probably overdubbed).
  20. https://badbadnotgood.bandcamp.com/ They call themselves "hip-hop jazz", but I don't hear the hip-hop, so I'll call it urban post-bop. RIYL: GoGo Penguin, Snarky Puppy, et al
  21. Happy belated! (party favour noise)
  22. It's not "designed for bats", it's "over-engineering", which is the head-case way. In general, not talking about the Chords, haven't tried either.
  23. Happy birthday, Knucks! (party favour noise)
  24. Foyle's War, season 9
  25. Fiona Apple collection on Tidal
