  1. Currently: Gentle Storm -- instrumental disks, both gentle and stormy -- didn't work in the car, because all they did is remaster it without the vocals, so the dynamics are all over the place -- a lot of times, when Anneke sings, they drop the rest of the music way down, because...well, it's Anneke, innit? Probably about to go on a Jellyfish binge EDIT : And by Jellyfish, I meant Iamthemorning WAT.
  2. Cool, now you can do calligraphy.
  3. If I were watching it, I probably would.
  4. That a capella version of Because... Oh, and Blue >> Red.
  5. Bobby's smile
  6. https://www.facebook.com/JoeGordonLevitt/videos/1059224357434561/ moar here
  7. I'm not saying I shouldn't have known, that it was some big secret, I'm just saying I didn't know. And now I do. I think it's more the non-frontman role that surprises me -- even when he was in Tin Machine, trying to be supportive of the other members of the ensemble, he was still the lead singer. I think (with the Iggy concert story) now knowing why (combined with knowing how important Iggy was to him) helps me to understanding that now.
  8. I've seen it, and I knew that, what I didn't know that among Bowie's many other talents, he played keyboards. Seems entirely ... backseat of him, which ^ actually makes makes sense.
  9. They do some great bass. Check out "Nerds on Mushrooms" -- one of my online friend's current favourite test track. Oh, and me: lots of Indochine on Tidal. Because I like the French, when they pop.
  10. Hard Times vegetarian chili
  11. Nice! ...but...(squints)...Bowie on keyboards?
  12. My Brightest Diamond, "Say What" -- totally addictive little number (free to stream on bandcamp)
  13. I don't think he thinks he is -- he's just very particular. Previously, he didn't like eMpTyV using "This Note's for You" anti-commericalism video ironically, then he didn't like his antiestablishmentarianism anthems used as political propaganda. Now this. So he's always kind of been like this.
  14. Mr. Robot Jacob, you definitely need to watch at least the first episode.
  15. I like spiders, but ... yeah, spiderwebs bad, I don't think even fire is sufficient.
  16. The problem is, you speak in hyperbole, not the truth. Differences between DACs aren't that dramatic, unless you have an impedance mismatch or some other problem elsewhere in the chain.
  17. You made me laugh into a coughing fit. ...and actually, a small point: it is. It really is. Even my cats don't join me.
  18. Yeah, this is true of most SACD and Blu-Ray players, if not all. And in anticipation of your next question ("then why have a DSD DAC?"), it's for when you're streaming DSD files from a computer, so USB mostly.
  19. Shilly McShillster?
  20. Found out Lhasa de Sela died 6 years ago, only found out recently. For some reason it hits me kind of hard -- saw her live, and she was wonderfully entertaining, telling stories between songs almost like a Storytellers episode. Plus she has no respect for convention. This song has an elastic sense of meter:
  21. Whole Foods sushi
  22. Under-rated album, Moonshine, by them. Just simply one of their best without a weak moment on it.
  23. Lhasa de Sela -- her entire catalog, La Llorona, The Living Road, and Lhasa. Just found out she passed away six fucking years ago, and this was after I finished listening to her catalog -- was looking what she had been up to, it had been a while. I must have seen her 2ce during the oughts -- glad I got the chance, she was just fabulously entertaining. I has a sad now.
  24. Dave Attell, Road Work -- funny shit I need to check out Mr. Robot, too.
