My Brightest Diamond, "Say What" -- totally addictive little number (free to stream on bandcamp)

Mr. Robot Jacob, you definitely need to watch at least the first episode.

I like spiders, but ... yeah, spiderwebs bad, I don't think even fire is sufficient.

The problem is, you speak in hyperbole, not the truth. Differences between DACs aren't that dramatic, unless you have an impedance mismatch or some other problem elsewhere in the chain.
-
You made me laugh into a coughing fit. ...and actually, a small point: it is. It really is. Even my cats don't join me.

Yeah, this is true of most SACD and Blu-Ray players, if not all. And in anticipation of your next question ("then why have a DSD DAC?"), it's for when you're streaming DSD files from a computer, so USB mostly.

Shilly McShillster?

Found out Lhasa de Sela died 6 years ago, only found out recently. For some reason it hits me kind of hard -- saw her live, and she was wonderfully entertaining, telling stories between songs almost like a Storytellers episode. Plus she has no respect for convention. This song has an elastic sense of meter:

Under-rated album, Moonshine, by them. Just simply one of their best without a weak moment on it.

Lhasa de Sela -- her entire catalog, La Llorona, The Living Road, and Lhasa. Just found out she passed away six fucking years ago, and this was after I finished listening to her catalog -- was looking what she had been up to, it had been a while. I must have seen her 2ce during the oughts -- glad I got the chance, she was just fabulously entertaining. I has a sad now.

Dave Attell, Road Work -- funny shit I need to check out Mr. Robot, too.

Cricket, a most 'proper' sport... -
Yup. That part was most enjoyable.

Another fantastic show. I was late for the first opener(s?), but I got to see Night Idea's set in their entirety, and ... INSTA-FAN! Math-rock/alternative -- totally dug everything they did. They need someone to man their merch booth, though, I could only buy a shirt, even though they had a cassette and a 7", because no-one there knew the price. And Little Tybee were fantastic. I learned of them because my hero Josh Martin is in this band (he of the glitch tapping), but for many of the songs, he added more texture than guitar "pyrotechnics", so the songs were front and center, which is fine -- prog folk. But then they did some instrumental breaks (the entire ensemble, there was very little soloing), and we got to hear Josh's tasty, tasty playing. The lead singer's voice reminds me of Jeremy Enigk, and the music isn't that far off (a bit more energetic and upbeat, and add violin). So yeah, really glad I went.

Dick. (See, I can't put a smiley face on that, because that gives it an entirely different meaning, although I do say it in jest.) (And no, I'm not trying to change the subject....or am I?) No, I'm just making fun of my whole "NO SPOILERS!!!1! (rage face)" thing. But you're right, I wasn't thinking that you'd finish the book that quickly, so...never mind.

Good luck with that.

Hamburger, salad at a place called Foode -- superb! EDIT: The plan was to hit Capital Ale House in Fredericksburg on the way down to Richmond, but they were closed! Next time, I'll check in advance -- if I had known, I would have arranged it to hit one of the Capital Ale House restaurants in Richmond, but there was a sign on the one in Fredericksburg that gave a list of restaurants recommended as alternatives, and Foode was the closest, most interesting one (it was kind of a co-op where different farmers would gather their ingredients and run the restaurant together kind of thing), and I can't say I was disappointed. Plus, hostess was a strawberry blonde with freckles so...

Feeling significantly better today (although still not completely well), so: Was: Jakalope, It Dreams Is: Nine Inch Nail, The Fragile To Be: Scarab, Serpents of the Nile (which is weird, because I'm seriously contemplating medicating up and going to a show in Richmond which is prolk (prog-folk)...) EDIT: With a detour through Ego by David Maxim Micic

You know, I usually don't do cookies/pastries/whatnot, but those scones look scrumptious.

Hey hey hey, that's my heritage. The intention of the dance is "living dolls" -- it takes a particular skill level to move without apparent locomotion. A lot of it is in the costuming, but it also requires a certain discipline to never kick the skirt accidentally. Think about how in Riverdance the motion of the legs doesn't translate up to the upper body and you get an idea of what's going on underneath the skirt. -
Things got really weird in s04e05 of Lost Girl. I'm liking the fact that they're willing to push things, but the production values (editing, acting -- )...
