Yup, Gira Swans, you're right. Scary is a good word to describe them. I couldn't even imagine listening to them if I was in a "vulnerable"/"impressionable" state.
But that's where I live now.
Okay, listened to Everyday Robots again -- damn this is really kind of slow and introspective. When listened to in context of other more energetic albums, it's fine, but on its own, it's just kind of boring.
Fuck Coaxials. Fuck ribbons. Quad 12L Actives are where it's at. You have your head ears roughly in the plane of the tweeters and you're done. They got no bottom, but you have a little bit of budget left over for a sub.
I listen to the Equators all the time, but the budget on them were $300 -- if you got more dosh, the Quads are the best in their price bracket.
I have no experience with the Emotivas. Yet.
Revisited both the Agalloch and the Swans -- I take back what I said (or rather, agreed with) re: the new Agalloch -- I quite like that post-metal instrumental, "Plateau of the Ages".
Oh, come on, you gotta see him live, always interesting.
Me, just: Le Butcherettes, Cry is for the Flies on First Listen
Nice throwback to deathrock era punkishness
