  1. Good luck to you and your ma, Steve.
  2. Thinking of seeing Hilary Hahn on Wednesday, in a violin/duet format. She plays "normally" -- I.E. facing the audience, with the violin held out in front of her and to the left (most of the audience's right). Pianist is usually facing stage left. There are some sweet choral seats (behind the performers), and several to the sides. Where should I sit? If I sit in the choral section, probably will have her back partially towards me (definitely don't want the one seat which is stage right and to the back -- she'll definitely have her back towards me the majority of the evening, though I would be able to see the pianist's hands). If I sit to stage left, I'll probably be facing her and the pianist (not able to see the pianist's playing), and if I sit to stage right...yeah, I think I just talked myself into the choral seats. Any thoughts?
  3. "There's no cure for being a cunt." -- might be my favourite line, yet.
  4. Because penis == funneh, always
  5. Fuck, that looks perfect. Alright, sign me up for the sous vide train.
  6. I wouldn't know ("...Oregon beach sand..."), but you're right, they're not exactly grey, I was just expressing solidarity for the sentiment.
  7. Dusty endorses Cardas Neutral Ref cables.
  8. <3 Groove Metal, old-school or otherwise. But that's not what I'm listening to: listening to Gazpacho's Demon again. Sounds really good on non-crap speakers (finally set up the computer monitoring system again).
  9. Went by Action Music after CD Cellar, they still had the Melobar, but it was a lot more expensive than I remember it, so still holding off...I think I might see if they have a layaway plan in May. So I bought another pedal instead:
  10. Yup, hours of fun as soon as I ever set up a turntable! And yes, I realize I sounded like I was complaining, only complaining about what I not got, quite happy with what I got.
  11. Aw, man, you got the Regina Spektor? It was gone by the time I got there. I got a bunch of things I wanted, but none of the top tier, and no Cake, sorry Brent. Got: Notwist, Oneohtrix Point Never, Broken Bells Not got: Garbage, Chvrches, Katatonia, Nick Cave, Clint Mansell... Also got a bunch of non-RSD new and used vinyl (Pat Metheny, Chick Corea, Isleys, Buddy Rich, Wes Montgomery, and Kaleidoscopic Vibrations -- Electronic Pop Music from Way Out by Perrey & Kingsley)
  12. Took my sisters to see Grand Budapest Hotel for the one's birthday. It was the older one's birthday, and her first Wes Anderson, and she's been hyped on seeing it for weeks, and she enjoyed it every bit as much as she'd hoped to. Good times.
  13. Don't know about shopping for tubes, I haven't in ages, and don't need to (I'm pretty much set for life for the amps I have). So I can't speak to him as a vendor or shopping in general. But I can speak to the matching: if he does the pair-matching at no extra charge, you may want to just ask him, he'd probably do quad matching no problem. I don't know how he matches curve traces other than by eye-balling it -- when you have numbers, you just pick the numbers that are closest together.
  14. Threw an entire bag of cauliflower in my current batch of chilli. This is better filler than my oatmeal or couscous or pretty much anything else I've yet tried. Cut it down to "rice" size (or "meat crumble" size), and after cooking for an hour, it has the perfect consistency of hamburger helper type stuff, without being so crunchy as to be "nuts", and without the starchy coating. I'll def be doing this again.
  15. And by 'hippy', I meant, 'hippie'. "...genesis hole..."
  16. I meant aurally uncolored. Hippy.
  17. I think she's using them to hold the earbuds centered, and to provide a color-free baffle.
  18. Sarcasm check? This should only ever be posted ironically...
  19. Is Head-Fi down again?
  20. Dammit, for a second I thought she was gluing googly eyes on the outside of her earmuffs...
  21. Good point, there is a bright side to this...
  22. Happy birthday, Jeffy! (party favour noise)
  23. Beyer T-1 on MassDrop for US$840 AKG K712's for as much as US$360 or as little as US$330, depending on number of purchasers (as is how MassDrop works)
  24. I was talking about the electrical wiring.
