Camels weep, "I gave up my toes for THIS?!?"
  2. Markus Acher, Was Geschah virtual mixtape Right after I finish this Pet Shop Boys remix of Blur's Girls and Boys -- I'm Britting out!
  3. @ self Yes, exactly, why didn't I think of that? Don't answer that... /thread
  4. No, I can't -- apartment complex doesn't allow that. And I wasn't worried about the TV stand being knocked over, I was worried about the TV being knocked over while on top of the stand. I understand it had a smaller footprint in the box, and with the stand (its own stand, not the Ikea stand), it should be less of an issue (I mean, while I was in the hospital, he spent over a day alone with everything, and didn't knock it over, he just makes me nervous with his energy sometimes. He likes to run down the main hall at full tilt and bounce off the walls -- literally. And the one night I let him in my room, he spent way too much time behind the TV.
  5. So when I first got my TV, Bobby knocked it over before it was even out of the box, so I immediately moved it to the master bedroom (where he doesn't have access). Now that I've cleared more than 50% of the living room, I want to finish clearing it, bring my furniture down (I will hire Two Guys And A Truck this time), and set my TV up there. Any ideas on how to make it sufficiently stable that a running 16 lb. cat can't knock it over? Is there a TV stand that will actually attach to the bottom of the TV (it's a huge plate)? Or should I just weight it down? Sandbags? I need to hurry up before next (current?) episode of Doctor Who drifts off air.
  6. I use computer as volume control all the time, and I can't hear a difference. And yeah, a lot of these systems have unbalanced inputs, and others just assume you're going to use an adapter.
  7. That's pretty much why I like Dockers -- soft uppers, which seems to be the tricky spot.
  8. They are, but for music engineers, who are deaf listen to everything more loudly. So they're upgrades, basically -- they'll go louder (theoretically) well, which might be nice if you want to step away from your desk for more than a sec. And agreed re: DBM50's -- they are designed for exactly that one thing. And yeah, they're more like US$1K, but HelloMusic.com was selling them for the same as the BM5A's -- US$800.
  9. Also, I just heard someone order a California Roll, "...no avocado." Sent frum mah phone-blet using Tapatalk.

  11. $750 is, indeed, a good price for those, as HelloMusic.com sold them for $800 (I use HelloMusic as sort of a "recent low water mark"). That said, you're looking at the wrong ones. If you want desktop, you should be looking at DBM50's, which are angled appropriately for straight off the table (so when I say desktop, I mean, desktop, unless you accomodate for them somehow) and priced similarly. Also, Emotiva. Also, KRK VXT8's. (HelloMusic.com has the 6's on sale right now for $600 and the 4's for 478, but both of those would need a sub. I haven't heard these without a sub, but I have heard them.) Also, KEF X300A -- I'm all about coaxial drivers, though I haven't heard these. Also, Equator D5's (I own these). Although Quad 12L's on 3 reams of paper each were still the second best of the bunch (Dynaudio Special Twenty Fives being the beast...er, best). More refined than the Equators, but not as much bass (although still more bass than Ls3/5a's, and with similar refinement, and the missing bass was quite tolerable on most music). I'm not helping, am I?
  12. for me I just got notice from the apartment complex management that they finally hooked up with the Public Works lady, but they still ignored my request to get the notice to vacate retracted in writing.
  13. Oh, I didn't think it was offensive or anything, it's just that I now work at an open desk, and people can easily see over my shoulder. I should just stop frequenting slower forum (or even head-case altogether) while at work.
  14. Well, the DS413j is only $375 at B&H, but I don't know why it's so much less expensive than the regular DS413, other than it's not black. (with the DS411slim, I at least understand why it's so cheap) Also, the DS411 (non-slim) is $376 'til Saturday. EDIT: Scratch that, it's the slim again, it comes with a hard drive, and apparently they didn't have room for both the drive and the full designation.
  15. No, I'm going to keep going -- maybe block some egresses temporarily while moving things around, but I need my living space to be livable, and I need the EMT's to not be angry with me when they come to get me -- they were very nice about it the first time (other than turning me in), but I don't know if they'll be so nice the next time.
  16. Yeezh, Larry, thinking good thoughts for you.
  17. ...and apparently the apartment complex manager is out on vacation or something, so I have to deal with someone new in order to get the notice to vacate retracted or whatever they want to call it (acknowledge that I passed and that the notice to vacate is null and void due to it being contingent). Which is just as well, 'cause I get along with the renewal coordinator just fine.
  18. Yeah, I noticed that, too, that they were only going to refund me the item, and not the shipping. Thanks for reminding me, I was going to take care of that before I sent mine back. Need to do that today.
  19. Jeff said I should sell the Ice Breakers on eBay to some nostalgia nut.
  20. In and out, she spent more time giving Bobby a scritch...went around, took a few pictures, didn't have any action items. Woot!
  21. The bunches of naked women.
  22. I thought it was a centrifuge.
  23. Here you go:
  24. I don't know what this is, but it's a part of their new ES line of speakers:
  25. Done. Sure hope I don't oversleep tomorrow a.m. I think I'll pass, but we'll see.
