  1. And again. RIYL: Agalloch, Swallow the Sun, Shape of Despair, the first Kayo Dot album. Average song length is a little over 10 minutes, and that's including the 3 minute prelude -- link. It's reminding me of something else (again, Swans?), but I can't put my finger on it.
  2. My list would look something like this (my list is alphabetical, as I wrote them down as I thought of them, so as not to provide duplicates, you're going to want to map a "shortest distance staggered" route): Allagash, Avery, Bell's (obviously), Bison, Brooklyn (I mean, c'mon, how can you not like a company who makes a "Black Ops": ...), The Bruery, Dogfish Head (obviously), Duck-Rabbit, Goose Island, Great Divide, Lagunitas, Left Hand (obviously), Pike, Rogue, Russian River, Sierra Nevada, Smuttynose, Southern Tier, Stone, Terrapin, Three Floyds, Three Skulls (hey, maybe Black Bonny will be making an appearance!), Tommyknocker, Troegs (right next to Weyerbacher), Victory (right next to Weyerbacher), Weyerbacher (obviously).
  3. I thought those finally got released on DVD? A new, unaltered hope; the unaltered empire strikes back; and return of the unaltered jedi
  4. Somehow I think we'll need the context, if the sentence goes something like, "it logically follows that f(x) = 2y + dt".
  5. Death Race was not horrible, RE#1 was not as horrible as #2 or #3, neither of which I could finish watching. Mortal Kombat was also fun. Event Horizon is superb, if a bit ...erm... abstract. At least it doesn't have a horrible tagline, like "Mankind's Greatest Threat Is Earth Itself" or "Earth has a Deadline", or stupid faux-science shit, which rubs me the wrong way inordinately. Or you could just get around to watching it already, and decide for yourself. As always.
  6. Well, you also know a guy online who has a whole shelfload of laserdiscs and two laserdisc players, including the very rare Matrix (which was the disc being made at the...Korean?...plant when the earthquake hit, destroying the plant, and no plans were made to create another plant).

What's worse than finding a worm in your apple? Getting your balls ground down with a belt sander.
  8. Wait, what?!?!? I didn't even realize it was Paul W.S. Anderson, of Resident Evil noteriety. He's hardly consistent -- Event Horizon is one of my favorite horror movies, and Death Race -- although fluffy not stuff -- was fun.
  9. Event Horizon isn't a "bad" sci-fi film, it's a horrific sci-fi film. Or a horror film set in a sci-fi...er...setting. I don't think it even intends for things to be anything other than supernatural.
  10. Looking forward to the YouTube, but still sorry you're having these problems.
  11. Void of Silence, Grave of Civilization -- fuck yeah. Quite possibly the doomiest record I've heard since Shape of Despair. The vocals may get on one's nerves (it's the mournful Swans-esque style), but clean trumps growl 365 days of the year, in my book. Will have to check out their back catalog, see if it's as good.
  12. If it's the one I'm thinking of, my co-worker got it, and she's very happy with it. It doubles the weight of the kindle, but she treasures her kindle, so is willing to put up with that for those time she needs the light. And it's really cool, it has a locking latch/dock-y thing that holds it in place, so no more elastic bands. Seems pretty secure.
  13. I know we have some tv repair shops, I'm thinking of one in particular that still had its placard still hung up that said, "TV/VCR/Laserdisc"...I'll have to drive by and see if they haven't remodeled.
  14. But if you take away all the faux-science...oh, wait... Sent from mah Droid
  15. You should then watch The Cube. And then perhaps, "The Tetrahedron" -- it's almost like the sphere, except it's not.

I'm thinking at the end she should have been getting a facial, and saying, "this is so relaxing".
  18. Worst case scenario, use linux Rhythmbox to offload all the mp3's off of your iPod onto your computer, then start anew.

  20. They are what you make of them, aren't they?

HPA -- they're both pretty retarded SO -- you're right, despite how epically fun and cheesy that fight was, the end is the best part. I'm going to have to learn that. KD -- now I have Orbital stuck in my head.
  22. Really, the SR-003 have rather a bizarre target market -- those that need that electrostatic sound portably, don't mind 'open', and can get the fit right (the fit is quote fiddly). Me, personally, I think it's a great way to get introduced to the electrostatic sound, but I recognize I'm in the minority on that. (Not a mafioso.)
  23. They should program it so that he says "oh my" any time you pass anything interesting, like a red light district, or the Washington Monument. "And on your left...oh, my..."
