  1. I declare today's theme to be "black" -- starting with Shiner Black Bohemian Lager.
  2. You think telling Nate you don't care about being called on something is going to make people think less of Nate? Really? Well...good luck with that. [/teh sarcasm]
  3. Ah. Fucking distributors. Someone needs to challenge the laws based on "inability to pursue happiness" and take the unconstitutionality all the way to the top.
  4. Duggeh's avatar FTW.
  5. Yes, it was sold out at the distributors, but I hadn't yet given up on (a) retailer(s) having remaining stock, and I found one (through ratebeer.com -- great site!). They actually still had some when I left, and I'm probably going back for the Oak-aged Imperial Stout (can't seem to find it anywhere else, even through ratebeer.com, which doesn't even list them as having any), unless Total Wine or someshit can order some for me...but not sure I want a case this time -- I now have a case of: Sierra Nevada's 30th Vol. 1, Bashah, and Fade To Black -- I think I'm set for a while. Might try Whole Foods to see if they will order some for me. Oh, and as to where -- fucking Richmond (fucking, in this case, regarding the distance). Once Upon a Vine South. Cute asian chick works there, though, so not sorry I went. Will probably check out the other store, too.
  6. The 12L actives do, indeed, rock.
  7. I use: Musical Fidelity X-CANv8p -- includes both headphone amp (medium -- somewhere between an iPod out and a Beta22) and attenuate pre outs. Am happy with the DAC aspect, but I haven't even heard an Ayre.
  8. Indeed I did. Posting what I wrote you here for others:
  9. Happy belated!
  10. ...looks just like HappyCat -- Dusty approves.
  11. A case of Left Hand Fade To Black, Volume 1: Foreign Export Stout. My grail beer. (Yes, I found it locally, without having to travel to Colorado.) ...and a watch.
  12. Wait, what? What's wrong with Victory/Magic Hat? I thought they were craft brews. And Dan -- thanks for the link! Perfect! Exactly what I want/need.
  13. Happy belated! Beer incoming after finals.
  14. These.
  15. You fucking troll, quit baiting me, I need to get some work done before tomorrow's meeting!
  16. No, incorrect, you're wrong, etc. Dynamic range != resolution. Dynamic range is the difference between the loudest and the softest, whereas resolution is the amount of detail to the signal -- I.E. what will let you know whether or not you're listening to a triangle wave or a square-wave signal being run through an LCR circuit that's really close to being critically damped. And why are you even bringing up sampling rate/frequency response? The fact that all of you guys keep harping on the same wrong strawman argument tells me that you're just regurgitating, and not even trying to understand my point, much less paying attention at all. FAIL. So -- to put it simply -- go fuck yourselves, all of you. (wanders off, muttering to himself something about 'retards')
  17. For What It's Rirth?
  18. Not on purpose, but yeah sorta kinda maybe. I wouldn't put any money into it, though, as historically, Apple has locked out such "accidental" features. Unless they decide to endorse it. I don't know if they've done the latter yet with the camera kit, though.
  19. Those were fucking awesome. So full of random, so full of win.
  20. It's not just about dynamic range, it's about resolution. Fuckers.
  21. Keyword there is 'seem' -- there were always a plethora of DACses, but fewer FOTMses (flavors of the month). Now there just seems to be more. Yes, pretty much. Seriously -- the questions are: how good is your hearing, and where is the point of diminished returns for you? I have found that most material sounds pretty much the same out of a several hundred dollar DAC and a several thousand dollar DAC, so my point is somewhere less than a thousand. I might pay more for additional functionality (Cambridge Audio 840c seems like a bargain, considering what it does), but unless I win the lottery, I just can't bring myself to 'dew et'. The only way to do this -- the only way, those that claim they can tell good from bad in a short listen are lying -- is to somehow arrange for an audition in your own system for a weeks-long period of time. This is usually done by actually purchasing the item. I have found that my best bet is to purchase used, and sell used, that way there's minimal financial outlay to me. (I consider shipping and any loss of value the price I pay for the in-home audition.) Sure, one can look at the specs and the reviews -- how else are you going to determine which ones to audition -- but ultimately you have to hear it for yourself to decide for yourself.
  22. Corpse?
  23. Castle -- they really need to do more episodes where people don't have an alibi, and yet are innocent. Some people just aren't that social. In fact, they could do a whole episode where all the suspects are gamers or something. Or forum-readers. On a forum about alcohol.
  24. Bump. Need moar pet photos.
