  1. Is that your serial number? (jots it down)
  2. Aren't groove tubes just rebranded something else?
  3. ADAT Lightpipe -- it is certainly capable of transferring quite a bit (8 channels of 24/48 ). But as has been mentioned, the spec itself does not support it.
  4. It looks like it says, "rar on pants" to me.
  5. I like the feet on the balancing act, and the rivets on the Moth s2a3.[/snarky]
  6. I'm not the Monkey, but having heard both under similar circumstances (at a meet, being driven by a BHSE), I'd have to say -- yes, exactly. Very good analogy.
  7. Actually, your 37" monitor isn't that much more overwhelming than my 30" one.
  8. I just use a drop-in infuser in a mug, especially when I'm trying a variety of different teas -- I don't want more than one cup in those cases. I use the SwissGold one, the 200, not the 300. And an electric kettle to boil the water. And if more than one cup, then a larger infuser and a teapot. I tried the ingenuiTea from Adagio Teas (which is a similar item to the above), but I didn't like the way the lid wouldn't come off to throw it in the dishwasher (supposedly it does, but I couldn't figure it out without worrying about breaking it).
  9. In glorious Russia, Lada disses itself.
  10. I hope they're built better than their cars.
  11. That and it also depends on the kind of music. Unexpect and Opeth and Lacuna Coil and etc. are much louder than Camille (who was perfect without earplugs) and even Al Di Meola.
  12. If you're ever in a store that has toy animals on the front counter, and they're arranged ...erm... suggestively -- that was probably me. It's just one of those things I do.
  13. I just got that exact same pair myself, but haven't taken them to a concert yet. My basis, though, was entirely different -- in my case, it was replacing a pair of what I believed were just rebranded Ety's, and I loved them. My attitude is to have multiple pairs with different ratings, since concerts vary in levels.
  14. Well, I heard that about the first two sets, but not about this one, and since is my favorite period, I thought I'd take a chance. Alright, I sat down earlier with the redbook layers, and quite frankly, I can't tell the difference. That said, I haven't heard the earlier two box sets, so don't know if it's because they learned some lessons on this one, or because I'm stone rock deaf. (I have had a really bad case of tinnitus this last couple of days [allergy-exacerbated].)
  15. You could escape prison with that. (Or at least house arrest.)
  16. Don't know. Not sure I ever will.
  17. Yeezh.
  18. "100/100"?
  19. Jury still out, over here.
  20. Thanks, Todd! Time travel, again? That would have been funny if this post was before the other one.
  21. It's a golden ears thing -- those of us who aren't super-sensitive to sibilance (yes, "us" means including me, meaning that I'm not sensitive to sibilance, not that I'm a golden-ears) like airiness and detail. And yes, I agree bright, and a shift towards treble can induce an illusion of air and detail, but think about the converse of that statement as well -- a pair of cans that do have gobs of air and detail will sound like they are shifted towards the bright and treble-y, too, although it won't necessarily be an illusion. Yes, agreed. Uh...no. The GS1K -- although by far the most comfortable Grado headphone in the stable -- just wasn't anywhere near what I want to spend time listening to, that I have absolutely zero intention of ever listening to that headphone ever again. Although I'm still dying of curiosity of what an accurate frequency spectrum measurement of it would look like. Also, I'm not joking, although I wouldn't argue with the stance -- in addition to what you said -- that there's quite a bit of variance among these. I believe one could get used to them, then all other headphones would sound bizarre.
  22. Fellow n00b here, so non-n00bs, feel free to confirm or deny -- two pieces of advice I've received: - try to be symmetrical about it, if you're going to use a higher wattage resister in one place on the left channel, try and use a higher wattage resister in the same place on the right channel; - as to whether or not one sounds better or not -- heck, try it for yourself, and see if you can hear a difference -- I doubt it in the case of only one, so the real test would be to swap them all out (this one is not advice I've heard, but rather, a conclusion I've seen several people come to on their own); - there are better places to use higher wattage resistors -- try and find out what they are (perhaps by asking).
