Well Ingwe already pointed it out. Surrounding yourself with people of varying opinion is only worth something if they are allowed to freely express those opinions and if the opinions are seriously considered. If you need examples look at the EPA, FDA, and FWS reports that had scientific evidence removed because it didn't support the political agenda. The pressure came directly from the top filtered through the respective cabinet posts.

Studying history is not the same as experiencing events. Both can provide a learning experience but only one, if used to its fullest, lets you gain real understanding.

You can also add me to that list. I have pretty much given up on the possibility of a viable third party however. Nothing in this election changes my mind on that. I too thought getting rid of the electoral college would be a good idea early on. However, that view gradually changed when I realized how most people decide on a candidate. It then was scary to think of no electoral college to act as a buffer. The 2000 election also solidified my opinion that getting rid of the EC would be a bad idea.

But unfortunately, policy-wise, McCain/Palin was more a clone of Bush/Cheney than I was comfortable with. So whether he was a candidate or not, his past eight years certainly had a huge effect on how I voted. In reality, the main cause of the Republican demise in 2008 is Bush 2000-2008. I was really saddened by McCains decisions in this election. As far as I'm concerned this was not the John McCain of 2000. This was someone who sold his reputation, integrity and ideals for his party's nomination. Palin I will not even comment on as she is beneath notice.

Eight years ago I looked at the TV screen and turned to my wife and said, "George W. Bush is evil". Nothing in the last eight years has made me rethink that assessment. Today is like the sun coming up on a new day. I am very, very happy and I do not care who knows it. My guess is a lot of other people feel the same way.

Maybe they are just happy that the majority of people decided that replacing one moron and old cynical fart in the white house with another old cynical fart and moron was not a good idea.

Wow, very noice. I've have always really liked Randall knives. I am particularly fond of the the #1 and #17. I also like the song, "Randall Knife" by Guy Clark. Good Stuff.

Well Switcheasy came through and my black CapsuleTouch arrived today. The construction on this and the attention to detail with the included accessories is very nice. It is a fully enclosed case (including a screen cover) so it is very different than the Body Glove case i was using. It will take a while to get used to it, but so far, two thumbs up. If you have a first generation touch, I have a clear (crystal) CapsuleTouch as seen HERE that I can send to the first person that PM's me they want it.

Way back (when I had a lot more time than brains) I mostly used a straight razor. I did use my Ulu (not as nice as the one in the picture) as well as my Buck special a few times during that period, mostly for shits and grins. Haven't done that in quite a while though (not because I have more brains now, just less time).
