  1. Damn, you don't do anything half-assed do you? Well since no one has followed the correct protocol, I call dibs on the KGSS Those are just my two favorite models. I didn't see a model 17 in there anywhere. I do have a new model one and seventeen on order as future birthday gifts for my son
  2. Wow, very noice. I've have always really liked Randall knives. I am particularly fond of the the #1 and #17. I also like the song, "Randall Knife" by Guy Clark. Good Stuff.
  3. Well Switcheasy came through and my black CapsuleTouch arrived today. The construction on this and the attention to detail with the included accessories is very nice. It is a fully enclosed case (including a screen cover) so it is very different than the Body Glove case i was using. It will take a while to get used to it, but so far, two thumbs up. If you have a first generation touch, I have a clear (crystal) CapsuleTouch as seen HERE that I can send to the first person that PM's me they want it.

    Wet Shaving

Way back (when I had a lot more time than brains) I mostly used a straight razor. I did use my Ulu (not as nice as the one in the picture) as well as my Buck special a few times during that period, mostly for shits and grins. Haven't done that in quite a while though (not because I have more brains now, just less time).
  5. I have a few projects in the queue that will need a fair bit of capacity so I need to be able to accomodate at least 5" stock. I am thinking of building a new plinth for my Dual turntable, but that is so far back that it's not even in the queue to get into the queue I have several clip-on work lights that I use across the shop where necessary so a built-in work-light while nice is not a necessity. Yeah but you don't care for stepped attenuators either . I don't see the twelve discrete speeds as being a significant detriment. The variable speed models are significantly more expensive.
  6. I am considering purchasing THIS model drill press from Wilton. Anybody have any comments yeah or neah?
  7. Yep, if it walks like an and talks like an and smells (poetic license) like an then its probably an Sometimes we all need to channel our inner Black and as usual Reksy has hit the asshat on the head. The second one is perfect. Thank you good sir. OK now you just made me spit my tea all over my desk
  8. Do a little more research and then get back to us. Thanks and have a nice day.
  9. Actually it's an Asshat Mark 1 ... Oh sorry, that would be the OP. (You know we really do need an asshat smiley)
  10. It kills all those $40,000 DACs, eh?
  11. While I generally dislike the term "giant killer" if this is like other Bryston gear I have heard, then I just might believe it in this case. There gear has that no-nosense, solid, Canadian look, feel and sound. I do think that an I2S input would have been nice, but I also understand why they did not feel the need to put one in.
  12. Have a notoriously Happy Birthday!!
  13. But then they could be president.
  14. No disagreement from me there, and it would be a good thing from many perspectives.
  15. Wow, those are very nice. I already bought a Penny and Giles RF15, so I will stick with that. I'm actually glad I did not see the bent audio site before as the volume control search took way longer than it should have as it was. Thanks for the info. Well that is cool. Craig seemed to be pretty impressed with P&G controls and I respect his opinions on those types of issues.
  16. I have also been in contact with Craig concerning, at first, a specific volume control for the BA, and then much more information than I ever wanted to know about volume controls in general. He has been more than transparent about the time line. I have no problem with the tinkering and constant quest for challenges. It's one of the things I enjoy about working with creative people. As an aside, I'm sticking with the BA because of the aforementioned concerns with the AD1. If that means the BA will only be 91.76834527% of the Aficionado, I'm cool with that. Back on topic. Looks like an awesome meet. I have to see the Frank Cooter amps in person. Looking foward to CJ09.
  17. I just received the following email from Switcheasy: So apparantly the case I ordered will be arriving. We shall see. Stay tuned for updates. P.S. I love the name Zoltan, it is one of the names I used to use as a kid when playing all the weird games we used to play.
  18. Although I consider my EeePC rig transportable, I can hold it in one hand with the Pico sitting next to the touch pad. Both are battery powered, so I guess my rig is, by your definition, portable.
  19. Many people use transportable and portable interchangeably. My current transportable rig is EeePc --> Pico --> HD-25. I upgraded the RAM and HD and now have a single rig for portable computing (i.e. away from my desk and phone!!!) and music listening. Since it has multiple functionality it is actually quite cost effective and provides very good SQ to boot. Does it sound as good as my main rig? No. Does it sound as good as my desktop rigs at home and work? Right now I would have to say yes, with the same phones (i.e. HD-25's ) but the desktop rigs can drive more demanding cans (AKG 340's) much better. The reality is that I currently spend my listening time as Transportable = Home desktop > Work Desktop >> Home Main Rig so I'm willing to spend the bucks for it right now. Next year? Who knows.
