Head-Case Christmas Exchange
Just wanted to bump this so Philodox and Billy could see what I have for them, respectively: J/K, Not Really

Might interest the rich ones..
I agree, native DSD and HDMI are pretty useless at the current time. It looks like the analog output stage may be nice.

Actually I like my 1G touch better. It may have been the abused model in the Apple store in Chicago, but the 2G I listened to had audible hiss with Senn PX200's but my 1G does not. As I said it could have just been that one unit, but it certainly made up my mind to keep my 1G until they release a model with greater storage. The processor speed difference doesn't bother me as I have had no speed issues so far.

knife-case
Oh ... and I just bought a couple of these Gerber SB 2.5, about $10.00 at Dicks Sporting Goods and cheaper online. Nice and light with a 2.5" blade and if I lose it (which I am prone to do) it's not a big deal. But if you want a better one the Benchmade is a nice knife.

Thanks, I have been looking at buying one of these for a while. With that price, that was a no brainer. Now to find some good deals on 1 Terabyte drives ...- Happy Canadian Birthday philodox!
Happy Birthday to the godfather of the K340 mafia. Hope you have a great one.- Post the last thing you bought!
and The first is not for me but the second is- Out-of-print MoFi and DCC Gold CD's at Elusive Disc
I didn't accept the offer, I'm leaving it to my son in my will I had also bought Dark Side of the Moon, Steely Dan's Aja and Gaucho and The Moody Blues' Days of Future Passed at the same time. Right now unfortunately, they are probably some of the best investments I own.- Out-of-print MoFi and DCC Gold CD's at Elusive Disc
They are expensive but the OOP MoFi and DCC disks have commanded some hefty prices from whoever was selling them. A few months ago someone offered me $250 for my MoFi copy of The Wall! Almost 10x what I paid for it from a going-out-of-business record store in Austin about 15 years ago.- Nixon
Hmmm .... Why do I suddenly have flashes of Mel Gibson and Tina Turner?- Review: Shanling PH3000
Well I spent a good bit of time listening to the Shanling PH3000 at work because I believe this review needs to be given an asterisk. I was surprised at the mention of a lot of tube noise. I brought in my recabled K701's since that is the only one of the phones used in the review that I have. Result: Absolutely no noise and no hiss detectable, even with the volume turned up to max (with no music playing obviously). This was also the result with my recabled Denon D2000 and Alessandro MSPro's. My guess is that the tubes may need to be reseated or there is a bad tube. It could also be that the Shanling has a crappy PSU. Since this is at work in a biology building with lots of compressors and motors on the circuit, I have everything plug into my BPT custom balanced power unit. I subsequently plugged everything into a cheap power strip which went directly into the wall. With that there was some detectable noise when I maxed the volume control. I could not detect any significant noise increase at my normal listening levels so I don't think the Shanlings PSU is likely contributing significantly to the hiss. I would suggest that a tube swap may be in order, perhaps by whoever has the Shanling now. Associated equipment was a Pop/Pulse USB/Spdif converter connected via AES/EBU to an Apogee Mini/DAC connected via XLR/RCA to the Shanling. All being fed FLAC files from my workstation.- Head-Case Christmas Exchange
I'm down, even if it's Daft Punk- Happy birthday JP#s!
Happy birthday to a gentleman and a scholar:- LS3/5a
Well I haven't heard one but there is a follow-up review of the Gini Systems LS3/5a in the December Stereophile by John Marks and John Atkinson. There are links and references to information on other incarnations of the LS3/5a's in John Marks Fifth Element column. - Deals
