played around with the sunset picture but couldn't get the sun to come out with clean outlines without undoing what i wanted to do with the photo - make it dark so just the outline of the truck were visible but still have the sun stick out. thoughts/suggestions in general are welcome. -
Happy birthday sirs!

another thing ive noticed is the automatic metering. the camera said this was at 0ev but i distinctly remember it being lighter around there. ive had similar experiences with pictures i take out in the sun where there is plenty of light. they all seem to come out a tad darker than they "should?" did nothing to the attached file. just converted to jpg in lightroom and reduced size by 50%. the white wall seems beige. the red doesnt seem to "pop" as it does in real life. -

I got mad dust on the nex 5 sensor. Self cleaning don't work. blowing air just reseats the dust. I got it on FM so Sony says $100. Any thoughts? -

shelly, have you considered an extension tube? i just got one to play around with for the nex 5 - just wanted to see what it did and whether i enjoyed looking at pictures of things that up close. the ones with electronic contacts get expensive but the one i got is just an empty plastic shell - cost me $10. couldnt really not give it a try even if i never use it again. while not really a macro lens, it just moves the lens farther away from the sensor resulting in vaguely similar results. havent had much time to play around with it but initial toying around yielded some surprising results. following were shot with the nex 5 + zeiss 35mm. all hand held in piss poor light so shutter speeds were ~1/30 secondsish. -

i could be used as the missing link in the evolutionary chain. having never had metal bracelets i think the yearning is born of just not ever having had one. i dont know if i would actually like one or not, again, because of never having had one.

walked around with the nokton for the day and switched back to the zeiss 35mm which is TINY by comparison and insanely lighter. what made things worse was the better iq which wasnt exactly a surprise but for the cost and the weight of the nokton is making me reconsider the purchase. the shallow dof is allegedly better for portraits but i have yet to take a picture with the nokton that i find better than the zeiss which has a softness to it that i cant really explain. the voigtlander is plenty sharp stopped down but i already have the zeiss for 2.8 or higher. wanted to get something a tad faster but im starting to realize that the extra speed isnt really doing anything that the zeiss isnt already doing (better). -
happy birthday sir

just for the sake of clarification, i think salty mentioned a while back that the cleaning tool came included with the initial purchase. i never got one then and then paid for one later but never got that either even after a few emails. i was told over the phone that i would be charged for the cleaning and the new cable if needed but was not for either. wasnt charged for return shipping either which i was also told i had to pay.
