I'd say it was average at best, but if it didn't do it for you I wouldn't encourage watching the show. I certainly didn't think it was as bad as you clearly did, but hey, such is life.

Can't say I blame you, I've been on a source rather than headphone binge lately.

I wouldn't say that Serenity was all that good a representation of what Firefly was like. Similar, yes, the same, absolutely not. Some of the stuff that happened in Serenity probably made no sense to those that hadn't watched Firefly and I can see how you just wouldn't get all that involved in the characters w/ such a short introduction to them.

Great Shows Firefly, check. Dead Like Me, check. Heroes, uh, not sure whether or not this is a great show yet. They ended the first season terribly, I watched part of last night's episode before succumbing to exhaustion but it was going ok. I'm giving them about 4 or 5 episodes to show me that they have something resembling a direction otherwise they'll probably lose me. Deadwood is fantastic and just so unlike anything else I've ever watched. It had a way of making me profoundly uncomfortable (was life ever that violent?) and got me to laugh out loud all in the same hour. Watch the first 5 episodes, if it doesn't click with you by then it probably won't.

I guess your resolve didn't last all that long.

Uh, well, considering the price (which shall go unnamed) it was impossible to pass up. The whole situation started out that I was going to try and repair it for Ken but he decided that he just wanted to move on from it and get something that he knew he could depend on. People were giving him a ration of shit about the way in which he was selling it (I don't know all the details of this) so I helped in the only way I could and bought it. I'm also having thoughts of building a single box comp-as-source solution and housing the Hertsens w/ the SB3 in which case having a balanced Redbook source would be very handy.

Uh, I'm not sure I can afford to do that! How about I build you a set of cables to raffle?

I debated whether or not to post this at all, it's bound to not sit well with certain folks who also tried to purchase it. I don't really know why I was chosen... But anyway, here's my most recent addition to my work rig (not really), ken36's Wadia 830. Still it sounds wonderful through the mini3. Pardon the crappy picture, our work cameras are dreadful. It probably needs a new remote (wicked flakey) and has an issue with the digital inputs (confirmed this morning) and since those parts aren't available from Wadia anymore I'm not hopeful that it can be repaired and it also doesn't have the digital output board so it can't serve as a dedicated transport which is what I was really hoping to use it for. Even with all that I'm sure that I can find a place for it at home.

Here's my 2c. I'd shoot for as low an output impedance as you can. I'm still trying to find output caps for my build. I'm not sure what you're asking here, perhaps you could link to the particluar schematic? Sounds good, I went with all Kiwames. Again, that sounds fine to me but really depends on if they work in whatever power supply you're thinking of using. Hard to say and really depends on what designs you're comparing. Most hard-core folks that I know favor tube-rectified designs as they allow for a gradual rise in B+. With solid state the minute you turn it on you're throwing full everything at a cold tube. If you're up for some learning track down Duncan's Power Supply Designer. That's what my friend used to design my Aikido PS. I suggest single ended first. If you hate the sound it'd be a shame to have that much tied up in the amp.

Happy Birthday!

Just finished... I have to say, as a child who grew up with them, that was one hell of an enjoyable movie.

I finished Season 1 of USA's Burn Notice last night, it's not great TV but it's pretty entertaining TV to be sure.

What, like these? Sorry about the lack of diamonds, my parts budget is limited.

Yup, we hooked posjack up DIY style.

It's got a serious channel imbalance problem so until I can call customer support (they don't do email ) they've been banished to their box.

Other than the (stupid) 1/8" connector they don't look portable in my book. For whatever reason my head keeps getting thrown off on the scale of them but once I get readjusted those wood cups seem pretty freaken huge.

Does that mean that the post person delivered something today?

FWIW I liked the Cardas on 580/600s.
-
Didn't mean to make you uncomfortable. Now that would be something, wouldn't it? I've always wanted to see what vaporware looked like.
-
I think we were clear on that before, , it was just an analogy and therefore didn't need to directly apply to all involved. Substitute "poke yourself in the eye with a stick" if it makes you more comfortable.
-
Personally not a huge fan of the Cardas/650 combo, I actually preferred the stock cable over the Cardas. But you should be able to get about $100 back for the cable and move on from there.

Yeah it is, so if your K1ks sound good to you don't sweat it. There will always be something newerbetterfasterquicker and constantly chasing it is like punching yourself in the nuts, if you're dumb enough to do it you deserve the result.
