Naim DAC
Seems like it's correct because you want all of the current to flow through the (very low resistance) feeback resistor not the stage.

Luxman P1u
Well the P1u should be more compared to the GS-X if we are talking cost etc. Also there is the SPL Phonitor (not discrete but custom op amp).

The Live Music Thread
Yes there was but it was recorded which was a bit disappointing.

not music but modern ballet: Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater at the Kennedy Center. There was a tall guy (one of the principals) that was probably the best, most beautiful, most effortless dancer I've ever seen in my life. Actually "moved" me. Yes let the gay jokes ensue.

Post the last thing you bought!
Good luck with the new work. I guess it's a bit more than strong tripod with great head/arms, good glass with a lot of leaves on the aperture, high f-numbers, and soft light?

Naim DAC
Email sent to the dealer. It's a "by appointment only" place so we'll see if I've got enough money to talk to them. I mentioned I lived in old town so hopefully that helps

PS Audio PerfectWave DAC
I would guess they use wolfson considering that's who wrote the filtering paper on their website

Fuck in snow

Naim DAC
Turns out one of the US Naim dealers is local to Alexandria. I think I may need to make a call and see if I can get a trial. I can always support 2 dacses for AB and I think this and the PW are the only two I want to try.

Oh I can hear differences when I'm doing it not blind: the Bel Canto one sounds better, mostly because I know it has a lower noise floor and better measured response. I did a test with the BelCanto, a Weiss DAC2 and the DEQ2496: I volume matched with a voltmeter everything let it sit on for a couple days and got my wife to switch all the inputs to my source switching box (with identical cables) and therefore single blind. I couldn't hear one farts of a difference between the two as much as I tried with Qualias, HD800s etc through a GS-X when listening to music. If no music was on I could crank the volume enough to tell the noise floor differences. I am not saying all DACs sound the same but I think that if the DAC is well designed to be transparent with a plain brick wall fliter and the correct phase response etc then it appears to end up at the same place, which it should. That said, non-brick wall filters maybe superior for some things such as old recordings that were downsampled to 16/44.1 through a good old fashioned brick wall. I can just build one of those filters into foobar if I want using the convolver. Back on the thread topic. Glad the Perfect Waves are sounding good

Look forward to your impressions. I only heard this dac when it was across from Headamp at CJ09. It sounded good to me but this is coming from a guy who can't hear the difference between my DEQ2496 and the BelCanto DAC3. Recently I've just been listening to the DEQ because I'm too lazy to surn the BC on and set it to the right input etc.

replaced the tips on my ER-4s for the first time in about a year. So nice to be able to remove them without the tip coming off I love these headphones. Constantly amazing me at how neutral they are.

Condolences Aura. I know a bit how you feel; today I had to email the airline with my granddad's death certificate to get my ticket change fees refunded. Brought up all sorts of old memories...- Post the last thing you bought!

Olivier Cave (Pianist) playing Scarlatti and others at the Phillips Collection (his north american debut). Really excellent acoustics in that small chamber music hall. I went because a friend of the family knows the guy but I'm really glad I went because it was amazing. He is a wonderful pianist. Up there with Evgeny Kissin for me though that could just have been the intimacy coloring my impression. Ordered his CD (import=$$) and we'll see if the impression stays.- Koss fraud. Wow, not good.
I'd be very surprised if the insanity defense succeeds but who knows. Maybe greed is a "syndrome". That would make a lot of Wall St. a looney bin which sort of fits. - What did you do today?
