  1. Very under appreciated, I am. Although my mom in law was able to get me a great deal on Invisalign through the periodontist she works for.
  2. Congratulations Stephen! I had a great f'n day. A good friend asked me to meet him for a drink. When I got there he told me he lost his job and that he was diagnosed 3 years ago with Parkinsons. I knew something was wrong but never asked as I figured that if I was right he obviously would have told me so I kept my mouth shut figuring he would tell me when he was ready. He is lucky as it has not progressed much since he was diagnosed. He and his family are such good people. I ended up offering him money as I knew it was an issue. I wish there was more I can do for them.
  3. Vicki, if you can afford it get the 64GB. The extra memory may come in handy and it's available now.
  4. Butcher block it is and I will send you the knives when it's time.
  5. Wow, a lot of information, which I guess I expected. I will probably order lefty knives. I can cut with both hands but left is my first choice, unless it's knife fighting, then I go right. It will be a while before I attempt to sharpen one of these knives. I do know that I will need a stone for that and that seems to be a hobby of it's own. What about a cutting board? Anything special I should be looking for? Anyone want a BH and SR-Omega?
  6. I just checked out the website and they will sharpen for free, I would just pay the shipping tp Portland, OR and back. I think Shun will be a good place to start. Thanks for the advice. Greg, my in laws like me but no one likes me enough for those Nenox Corian knives.
  7. To be honest, I haven't thought about those questions. I guess, since there is a skill set I have to learn and I'm capable of obsessive behavior, I would answer the questions, no, yes, yes. This would lead to the Shuns with the ability to move elsewhere should I learn the new skill set and exhibit obsessive knife behavior.
  8. In yet another slap in the face by ATT, they are increasing their termination fee from $175 to $325: AT&T to Raise Early Termination Fee for iPhone and Other Smartphones from $175 to $325 - Mac Rumors This makes sense since ATT has moved up the full upgrade dates on a number of customers in anticipation of the new iPhone.
  9. I figured I would start a thread on the subject since it comes up from time to time. As at least some of you know, I like to cook, mostly involving bbq and smoking. I have been thinking about getting some higher quality knives then the ones from Sharper Image I have been using that were a gift from a couple of years ago. I started to do some research but have a lot more to do. I have a big birthday coming up and my wife tells me that some others (in laws) want to buy something nice for me (first time for that but that's another story). I suggested knives for the kitchen. I have been considering some Shun Classic, starting with a chef, paring and slicing knives. Any thoughts or suggestions on others? Thanks
  10. I just saw the available in September. The iPad fits fine, it just doesn't fill the compartment which is fine. I like having the option for my MBP and the extra room for other gear. I think this is going to be a keeper for now. Update: I think the Ristretto is saying. I carried it with me during lunch and it's comfortable and carries everything I need. I think it would carry my MBP and iPad if needed.
  11. I like the Manhattan Messenger. I can't find on the site where to purchase or even the price.
  12. That was funny and the dog does look like Achilles:

The iPhone 4.0 Beta OS has the ability to tether. The question is will Att finally activate it and what will be the charge. I have Att tethering on my iPhone because I am still on 3.0 and it works, just not as good as MyWi. This feature was taken away, when 3.1 was release. This time, according the article I will link, it looks like there is a screen to activate, which there wasn't with the 3.0 version, so there is some hope. Internet Tethering for AT&T Customers to Finally Arrive with iPhone OS 4.0? - Mac Rumors
  14. My Bihn Ristretto arrived. I think I may prefer it to the Booq. While it's larger, it seems to wear lighter than the Booq and I guess due to it's larger size is not as bulky as the Booq. It is large enough to hold my 13" MBP, which I thought was a worthwhile option. My only complaint is the strap could be longer. I like to wear messenger bags at least part below my waist which I am able to do with the strap at it's longest setting. I am going to contact Bihn to see if they have a longer strap option.
  15. I like both bags. Which Bihn bag did you have?
  16. It was just a matter of time.

    Canjam 2010.

I will consider a t shirt even though I have 4 from last year that I rarely wear. However, the thought of it being carried around with you guys and barfed on, may be enough to get me off the fence. Trip is insured and alternatives in the event of volcanic ash, far from Chicago, are in place.
  18. It's the same except if has whatever hardware/software needed for the 3G. I had the WiFi for a few weeks and I don't see any performance difference between the two.

    Canjam 2010.

Can't wait, flight leaves at 5:40pm and arrives in London 1:45pm after a stop in Paris. Oh wait, you meant CanJam. Yeah, have fun with that.
  20. I agree with Nate, I don't see a camera version coming soon either. I have not read any rumors suggesting one is close either. With the new iPhone coming with a front facing camera in June, I do expect that the iPad will have one at the next hardware update but I would be shocked if that was this summer. I got the 64GB/3G because I could but if the extra money was an issue, I would have gone 32GB/3G. Once you decide on which version it's time to pick out your murse.
  21. They have some nice bags. I like the Messenger bag but also like this one:
