  1. Hey man, I remember ya - you were that Texas guy, right? Geez what made you move to Pittsburgh?
  2. Booze is always better than headphones! And we don't really talk about headphone amps here. What we really talk about on HC is booze.

    Deals

Wow there are lots of terrific deals in the Sound by Singer demo price list, definitely worth scouring carefully! I wish I had several thousand to buy some of that stuff but have no spare monies. Damn it makes me almost want to sell my Qualia and BHSE right now!
  4. a-x has been removed from the whitelist
  5. Indeed. Now no douchenozzles can PM me on HC.
  6. I used to, but haven't gotten any in a while. Back when HF was on vB and I had my PMs disabled, there were even people who found me on HC and attempted to PM me here. Hence the "whitelist" approach to my PM setup here.
  7. Thanks Alex, you just gave me my next sig quote, but I'm guessing you did that on purpose. Ok, this is for the douchenozzle newbies! Read the welcome PM to ensure that you don't get slapped with the humiliating "Didn't read the Welcome to Head-Case PM" title! I will not help anyone choose headphones. Since when did people become so lazy that they think other people on the Internet will help them choose headphones?
  8. We don't really talk about headphones here, go here instead: Head-Fi.org - Headphone forums and reviews for audiophiles
  9. ^ If you're asking if it's for sale, look for my recent posts in the place not indexed by Google. Any other questions, send a PM.
  10. M3 not gone yet, but it's for sale: http://www.head-case.org/forums/audio-gear-sale/8573-fs-rockhopper-balanced-m3.html Unfortunately for Solude he's not on my contact list. He'll have to do something cool to get me to add him though....
  11. The last time I had an HD800, I had only the HeadAmp AE-2; this time, a Nugget Audio B22! (Among other amps that need not be named.) Also, Kick-Ass Blu-Ray/DVD combo set. (click for larger) That's a sweet-lookin' case. Custom-built your PC, eh? If you're running Win 7, you might want to put more RAM in there - you could probably take advantage of tri-channel too.

Cool Mike, this is officially going to be a party now. Moar beer for everyone!
  13. I think you'll find it impossible to find 1 amp that'd be suitable for all three headphones. Exstata for value and don't worry about the sound is my suggestion.
  14. I have one on order with my local dealer. 15% off MSRP! No idea when it'll be in stock but I'm chomping at the bit because it should be soon. I too think that Arcam probably did some research before coming up with this DAC. The US price ($480) puts it in reach of just about anyone (except penultimate low-budget Head-Fiers who think they have to buy everything absolutely cheap) and the compact size is definitely a plus. The wireless receiver isn't currently implemented though and is supposed to come out later this year as an upgrade. And it's probably just the Arcam fanboy in me but I wouldn't shortchange this DAC - it has a nice price, the WM8741, dCS' async USB technology, and support for 24/96 over the USB. And it's not made by some sketchy Chinese operation either. And of course there's the advantage that a world-wide dealer network provides....
  15. Event's this coming weekend, thought there'd be more NorCal folks interested in this by now....? (plus I'd rather see impressions & pics from any HC-ers attending as opposed to the usual audio press publications)

    Audeze LCD-2

Sound? Who cares about sound? All I care about is matching specs.
  17. Slap some bowls on there (or even reverse quarter-modded HD414 pads) and then see what you think? ...or if it already has bowls, you could get GS1K/PS1K jumbo pads.

    Audeze LCD-2

It sounds like I should retain the M3 that I currently have then (at least for a while), and budget up for a B22 in the future. I was also looking at the Dynalo specs but couldn't conclusively tell if it'd be able to properly drive the LCD-2, but given the current output you stated, it seems like it too would be inadequate?

    Audeze LCD-2

So it seems to me that based on specs, an M3 w/ OPA627 should be a good amp for the LCD-2. Would any of the DIY folks here agree with that? I've been looking into the commercial amp options but it seems like there are very few <$1K options that would adequately drive an LCD-2 short of DIY (CKKIII, M3, B22).

    2010 RMAF/CJ@RMAF

What, you can't attend both? In terms of number of potential customers you could reach, RMAF blows away Canfest obviously. I always get the distinct impression that the average RMAF attendee doesn't know his way around a computer though, so probably not an ideal crowd for Pico/Pico Slim....

In regards to the free hotel accommodation I offered above, I'm most likely going to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn, not the Marriott. Oh I think I misinterpreted your post, oops. JP would have to speak for this. Though I'm not sure RMAF would permit setup of speakers in anything other than a dedicated room which would need to be paid for.

    2010 RMAF/CJ@RMAF

Well the group rates at the venue hotel are here: Rocky Mountain Audiofest 2010. And right across the road are the Hilton Garden Inn Denver Tech Center and Hyatt Regency Denver Tech Center which are both cheaper than the Marriott (at least if you book in advance). Staying at the Marriott would make more sense though if enough people are assembled for the Double, Triple, or Quad rates. I'll throw in this offer too: since I'll have to book my own hotel stay too (Denver's far away enough that it doesn't make much sense to drive back home each night), 1 free accommodation for anyone who might want to use the other bed, and maybe 1 more for anyone who doesn't mind sleeping on the floor? Oh and cheaper airport-hotel transportation can be had on the RTD light rail btw, for anyone who doesn't want to pay for one of those car services. Also keep in mind that RMAF passes are $10 for 1 day, $20 for 2 days, or $25 for all 3 days (cheaper for students & seniors).

    2010 RMAF/CJ@RMAF

Ok so here's the deal: with 3 months' advance notice for this thing, I'm expecting some more HC-ers to show up this year. There was a paltry handful last year (but it was certainly a fine group, no complaints there) and I'm sure more can show up this time! Who can be in? It'll be headphones + speakers! JP will be there, and probably Tyll too I'll bet, along with inevitably Jude and the rest of the usual HF folks too. Here's what I'll offer for anyone who travels in: - car service to/from DIA as my schedule permits (since the hotel is too far from the airport to have a free shuttle) - a round of beer on me at whatever fine establishment we end up going to each night - will bring a stash of the finest microbrews that Colorado has to offer for everyone to sample from - hrmm, anything else I'm missing?
