1. Nat King Cole - The Very Thought of You [2010 Analogue Productions SACD]. (More Nat King Cole AP SACDs coming out this week too - check Acoustic Sounds/ElusiveDisc/MusicDirect.)
2. Rhetorical: does it really matter what a company calls itself or its products when it delivers solid products at good prices? While maintaining a solid reputation and a sense of humor? I for one am glad to see a business like Schiit succeeding and I hope the Lyr takes off. Jason Stoddard was a really cool guy when I met him at RMAF (the woman in the pic is also with Schiit):
3. Massive Attack - Heligoland Didn't like it at first but the more I spun it, the more I came to like it and I'd say it's my 2nd favorite Massive Attack album after Mezzanine (replacing Protection which is now 3rd). My favorite tracks are Pray for Rain and Atlas Air. Helloween - 7 Sinners Just got into Helloween this year, and 7 Sinners was sorta my introduction to them. Lots of cool tracks, this album definitely makes me want to check out their previous CDs. I bought tons of CDs by a lot of different metal bands this year and favorite new bands discovered include: Amorphis, Arcturus, Beyond Twilight, Iced Earth, In Flames, Gamma Ray, Symphony X.
4. I got these two jazz CDs from Carl. Looking forward to listening to them later, thanks Carl. Would've posted sooner but I went out of town for the holiday weekend.

Music Direct: Elusive Disc: Sounds like a good time to get either the Stax 4070 or SR-507 from ElusiveDisc.
6. Well the DAC and the CDP sounded similar enough that I suspected it was in part due to the 8740/8741, is that an inaccurate assumption? Should there be a more obvious audible difference between the two chips? I've already tried to determine how to open the rDac btw but it didn't look obvious, I guess Arcam doesn't want people opening it.
7. I wrote a quick impression over at HF from my 3-days-ago listening session: Arcam rDac - it's out! - Page 2 - Head-Fi.org Community I was going to listen again yesterday night but the amount of whisky I drank made it never happen. In fact the only thing I remember is that I couldn't see straight, was swaying in my chair, & was saying random stuff out loud. It made me oversleep this morning, which made me late for work. So I'll try to listen again soon without getting drunk, and not on a weeknight again either.
8. This player has everything I want, except it's not silver, dammit! How come Oppo doesn't make gear in silver?
9. Coherent? I have a bottle of scotch whisky and another of amaretto to finish up, guess I'm getting even moar drunk tomorrow night to try again!
10. Thx for the info Pete, don't know what I'd do withot you! I ordered a Lumix G2 recently but canceled the order after I found out abot the LX5 which looks tempting. Will chk out the tohers tho.
11. I'm checking out the rDac for the first time at home since getting it. Ok so I'm totally drunk right now which is probably affecting my perception. But the best kind of listening is drunk lstening, right? I'm running it from the coax output of my Arcam CD36 and using the Gilmor Lite. Not bad, but definitely not in the league of my Plinus CDP. Will probably compare to the Arcam CDP sometime later for a fair comparioson. Right now though I'm headbaging to some Helloween and totally enjoying it, whooo!
12. Still have it. I'm indeed looking to sell my S90, if you want it Jim. The recent discussion is of interest to me as I'm looking for a bigger camera (but not too big), one with physical buttons to change WB, ISO, aperture, etc. The menu-based access of the S90 slows me down too much and I decided I couldn't put up with it anymore.
13. Sarah McLachlan - Wintersong. 'Tis the season, right?
14. I got double the exchange gifts due to 2 partners. I got a DVD set from Ric, looking forward to watching it as soon as I have some spare vacation time next weekend. Thanks Ric! And I got my gift from Carl just today. Didn't open it since it was wrapped, going to save it for Christmas Eve. Can't wait to find out what music it contains, thanks Carl!
15. I too bought some liquor (and beer) recently. All of these were gifts.
16. I'd like to know who's seriously going to pay $600 for a portable amp, balanced though it may be. It'd be a lot more practical to get a mini-size integrated amp (for the HE-6, that is) - there are lots to pick from and they're all <$500! As for balanced IEMs, totally not getting why anyone would bother. I can't think of a single ultraportable scenario in which someone would be paying that much attention to the sound.

HiFiMAN HE-6

Don't mind me, I'm just sorta cranky when I hear about the HE-6. The giant snowball thread at HF tends to rub me the wrong way.

HiFiMAN HE-6

I think an HE-6 thread here isn't necessary when the one at HF suffices for everything we need to know. Plus if you're just going to cross-post here word-for-word what you posted at HF, IMO don't bother posting here. It's not like we can't/don't read HF.
19. Geez, looks like a whole bunch of people got some swanky gifts for that Gift Exchange thing. A framed pic is a great idea, wish I'd thought of that. I almost don't want to know what other people are getting now. All I got for folks were CDs. Gonna have to step it up next year methinks.
20. Pics from my S90. The rest of my pics from my DSLR to come later.
21. I'm feeling like the gifts I got for others are completely inadequate now, coming after book sets and fine liquor. I lack creativity.
22. You did? I guess I need to turn in my guy card now.
23. Panasonic Lumix G2. ....anyone want to buy a black Canon S90? PM me. (9/10 condition, all original materials, etc, plus an extra battery. Memory card not included.)
