  1. This was the 1st result on a Google search for "squishy ball": http://www.mardigrasoutlet.com/catalog/3360.html
  2. Hey Brent, saw your post over at HF. Not sure I can swing the trip (I've already scheduled 4 trips for this year, May through July) and I'm still really iffy on the event. If the HC-ers you mentioned decide to show up though (specifically Fitz & Purk, since Tom Hankins will probably be there), that'd definitely tip the scales for me - otherwise I probably won't bother. If I did go, I probably wouldn't have any gear to contribute either.

You're in Maryland, right? Incidentally the last stop on Hahn's current tour is in Bethesda on the 27th, probably still time to get a ticket. http://hilaryhahn.com/on-tour/

Hilary Hahn (violin) & Valentina Lisitsa (piano) playing Tartini, Beethoven, Ives, Bach, & Antheil, here in CO. They were both really good, was a great concert. Hahn's skill was awesome and Lisitsa was almost lyrical on the piano. There were 3 encores too which was an unexpected bonus - 1 solo by Hahn, 1 solo by Lisitsa, and 1 duet with both. There was an autograph session after the concert so I got to "meet" them too, which was nice considering my seat was too far from the stage to see their faces. Got an autographed copy of Hahn's Bach Concertos.
  5. Looks like it'll be a great year for audio shows in California! THE Show - June 3-5: http://www.theshownewport.com/2011n/mainpage.php in Newport Beach @ Hilton Orange County Airport CA Audio Show - July 15-17: http://www.caaudioshow.com/ in Burlingame @ Crowne Plaza SFO Already have my flight booked for the CA Audio Show in NorCal. Would have liked to go to the THE show too but the timing is bad for me on that one. Hope to run into some HC-ers either way, I'll most likely be there only on the Saturday 7/16 though (small chance I might also be there on Sunday 7/17).
  6. Wow looks like a cool line-up this year: http://www.bluegrass.com/telluride/lineup.html I'm probably not going unless Alison Krauss & Union Station show up again, but since they have a new album coming out in April, my guess is that they might be there. Anyone think they might travel out for this?
  7. Just a heads-up for the NorCal folks who don't keep track of HF these days: http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/525693/bay-area-meet-california-february-19th-2011 Same location as last year's meet that Al did. Looks like an interesting meet especially with the vendors - Fang, Jason from Schiit, Doc from Bottlehead, Ultimate Ears, etc. The sheer number of people on the attendee list is astounding....

  12. I suspect Tyler/Sherwood will be along later for the dirt on places to eat & drink at. May is a good time to visit, the weather will be warm and spring-like, though it can still snow in May. Never snows much in May but it still happens, and it never sticks around either (snow always melts in 2-3 days in Colorado, even in the winter). It'll be the kind of weather where you'll want to wear a light jacket over a t-shirt. Depending on how long you're in the area, I'd highly recommend taking at least a day trip into the mountains. You could probably get about as far as Aspen and back in 1 day, and there's a lot to see between Denver and Aspen - the Maroon Bells (near Aspen), Breckenridge, Lake Dillon. Or you could go northwest to Estes Park (just over an hour away), or south to Pike's Peak. This is of course if you'll have a rental car - but if not, there are still plenty of places you can go around Denver on public transit (like a side-trip to Golden, where Coors is brewed). Downtown Denver is mostly built around southeast from the 16th Street Mall (outdoor walking mall that's a few blocks long) - lots of restaurants there and some of the major tourist spots are close too, like the Art Museum, Natural History Museum, the State Capitol, etc. Most of downtown is easily accessible on the RTD, more info on maps & routes can be found at rtd-denver.com. A lot of touristy spots are within walking distance of the Convention Center too. If you're into classical-music concerts or plays, the Convention Center is very close to the Center for the Performing Arts where the state symphony orchestra performs. There should be a lot of hotels in that part of Denver and I'm sure most of them are pretty expensive. I'm admittedly not very big on "nightlife" in general so I'll defer to Tyler on that subject. Denver is a fair bit away from where I live (about 45 minutes away) and I don't usually go into the city unless I have a specific reason to. Let me know when you're here though, would like to meet you and can help show you around.
  13. Do you have a link where I can buy these BGO Al Di Meola re-masters? As for what I'm listening to: Carlos Kleiber & Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra - Beethoven Symphonies 5 & 7
  14. This is the Welcome PM: Wait, I just saw the post above where it says the HD800 is $1800. Holy crap, man. What the hell is Senn doing...?
  15. Does IPB have functionality to: (1) disable PMs, and (2) receive PMs only from contacts/friends?
  16. I get this error when trying to modify my profile: "[#1026] You are not permitted to modify all or some of your profile information." Will this be fixed soon? Like the new software, looks cool. How come Head-Fi couldn't use IPBoard instead of that terrible Huddler?
  17. I sold my ES10 recently. I decided the ES7 suited my needs just as well without costing nearly as much. Never heard the ESW10 but I did own the ESW9 once, which was ok but it too was beaten by my ES7. The ES10 was ok - wider, more open soundstage than the ES7 and more "balanced"-sounding across the spectrum, but not clear enough. And I didn't really like how it handled FPS gaming, it subtracted some of the mid-bass quantity and made explosions and gunfire sound less powerful & boomy. I had my ES10 at TamJam where quite a few folks listened to it....

    Audeze LCD-2

I have, and I prefer the GS-X. The M3's not bad though, just not ideal. (Though its sound also depends on the op-amp, along with possibly other parts, so not every M3 will necessarily sound the same.) Well I'm still here obviously, which means no one has my rig....yet.
  19. ^ Wow that brings back memories. One of my favorite sci-fi movies ever. I have it on DVD, think I'll watch it again soon.

Like I told someone else the other day, you'd have to kill me to get my rig.

I think the LCD-2 sounds great on the GS-X when balanced, but hey, what do I know, right?
