  1. Finger's crossed! And, does that mean you'd have a say in making sure Costco will continue their money back guarantee on all high end watches like Omega, even 5-15 years later?
  2. I wonder if that's my issue with our bedroom A/C vent.
  3. So, I've been planning to reinstall Windows 7 Ultimate in Bootcamp on my replacement Macbook Pro (after the previous Macbook was bent concave in the car accident). From what I'm reading, if I do that then I can upgrade to Windows 10 and have it run better in bootcamp, right?
  4. I hope you don't have to stay up all night to get this done.
  5. The lume on this 1998 Seamaster Pro I just bought seems to lack patina as well, and usually most mid-late '90's SMP have developed a yellow tint by now. Maybe it will look more yellow when it arrives on Wednesday?
  6. Albino GMT isn't so mythical anymore.
  7. Happy Belated Birthday! I hadn't read the whole forum in a while, so missed it.
  8. That's great - it's rare to have a mechanical watch that doesn't gain or lose at least 1-2 seconds/day, so even + 2-4 sec/month is amazing. My new Rolex GMT II BLNR has gained 2.5 seconds in the past 35 days, although more than half of that gain has been in the past week. It tends to gain less than a second during the day, and then loses most of it back at night while I sleep, but lately I've been awake more than I've slept and so it's creeping upwards slowly. It runs +0 on it's back, but can gain slightly when laying crown down and lose slightly when resting crown up. In contrast, my older Explorer II and Moonwatch run about +1.5 seconds a day, and my three Seamaster Pro's all run about +2 to +2.5 seconds a day. My Titanium Planet Ocean 8500 runs about +3 sec/day, while my older PO 2500 runs about +4.5 sec/day, etc...
  9. Are there any audible changes between the ones sent out a few months ago and retail sets?
  10. I assume this is intended for me and my clone the LaCie RAID OS issue? If so, and if I set the 2TB RAID to be a 1TB mirrored RAID, then a single drive can be recognized by the OS when I put on an SATA to USB cable, and then I could clone the OS by copying all the hidden files to the larger drives, and install the larger drives into the old case?
  11. Yeah, maybe - he's got a Casio and a Luminox Colormark blackout in PVD steel that he paid for himself, and the Ti Citizen eco-drive I gave him, plus the Omega Seamaster he got for being an Eagle Scout. So, maybe 4 watches is enough for him (a beater, a pair of divers with one being a chronograph, and a dressy one). I don't see him cashing in any of his paychecks for one of these, he just wants someone else to buy it for him. He's saving money for his 1st year of college so he wont have to work his first year to pay for clothes and toothpaste (next year).
  12. Wow, that's a lot of storage! Anybody know offhand if there's going to be any special trick to upgrading the two 3TB drives in a 6TB LaCie thunderbolt to a pair of 4TB or 6TB drives, or is it all done in software (Disk Utility)? I ask because my old LaCie 2TB RAID network drive requires cloning the OS to the new disks before updating (beyond my skills). I've never upgraded a RAID other than my Drobo 5N, which is a breeze.
  13. My Comcast supplied internet/phone modem for triple play was set to bridged mode by Comcast, and does NOT revert back to router mode when reset, we've done it many times if things go awry. I think it's a Technicolor brand modem (used to be an RCA before we upgraded to DOCSIS 3.0). We're seeing about 90Mbps with our 50Mbps service. We use the latest Airport Extreme 3TB Time Capsule as our router, but we saw the same speeds with our older 5th Gen Airport Extreme.
  14. Oh, and I got my blue Everest rubber watch strap for Rolex today, and I really like it. I might like the fit slightly more than the RubberB strap in black with thin blue stripe, as it has more holes in the strap that are closer together. The Everest will also fit a much larger wrist than the RubberB can accommodate (guessing 8" max vs 7.5")
  15. Since my son isn't excited about getting an old 1998 silver dial Omega Speedmaster automatic for his 18th birthday, I was thinking about keeping it for myself and getting him a Seiko Astron that he's had his eye on. It's the SSE-013 solar powered GPS-set world time perpetual calendar chronograph in PVD black (or ion plating). The lume is nice and strong in two colors, the ceramic bezel and sapphire crystal is nice, it's pretty easy to operate without RTFM, and I can get a good deal on it. It's also quite a bit thinner and smaller in diameter than the previous generation, and it's in his favorite colors (black and blue). What do you guys think?
  16. Can someone try lifting the ear cups very slightly off your ears, and tell me if the bass improves for you when you slightly break the seal?
  17. Wow, both Seiko are very nice but I really really like the 55th anniversary model, although I'd also be considering a grey market Omega Grey Side of the Moon or Rolex Daytona for that price.
  18. This is what I was saying, you just did it better.
  19. I love it - reminds me why I walked away from the Bond 007 AT Limited Edition last week. (well, it still tugs at my strings a little bit, but the Bond coat of arms is way overdone on the 007 version)
  20. Well, on my iPhone 6+ video is the same 1920x1080p as the screen = 16:9 ratio, but photos are in 3:4 ratio compressing 2448x3264 pixels into a 1080p screen.
  21. I can't find this - only 10 packs of $10 cards - did I miss out? Link? NVM, found it - http://www.amazon.com/Amazon-com-25-Gift-Cards-Holiday/dp/B005ESMEI4/ref=sr_1_20?s=gift-cards&ie=UTF8&qid=1436979443&sr=1-20&keywords=amazon+gift+card+multipack&refinements=p_n_feature_three_browse-bin%3A2749134011 EDIT - Well, I f'd it up - I ordered three $25 "thank you" cards because I didn't want Xmas themed gift cards at this time of year, nor a Kindle themed one that would confused my daughter on her birthday becauseshe doesn't have a kindle, so I canceled the order to order the Xmas gift cards after all, but now the $10 promotional credit code doesn't work anymore. AND CHAT PERSON FIXED IT
  22. I've got 12TB in a Drobo 5N and I still have 4TB free after backing up my 6TB iTunes drive and two time machine backups for the iMac and MacBook Pro. But if I combined the years of crap saved on various 1, 2, and 3TB drives I'd need 20TB.
  23. Do I get any credit for helping you pick that model?
