A bit of a clamp but not too much. Overall pretty light and comfortable. Probably right on that, Gene. No, and I really don't think there is much I can say after a couple hours on the head and most of a day of breaking in. It seemed a little lighter on bass upon first putting them on to both me and a musician friend who listened for a few minutes. He thought the mids and upper mids were the most prominent with a lot of detail especially on the high end. He is not a headphone geek but he uses them all the time when making/recording music. I'd mostly agree with him, and I will post random comments as they break in. Others will be hearing them this week and at the meet on Saturday so some more thoughts will be available. I'm not really going to try to do so, but the mesh is over some kind of stiff backing so it is not like the HD800.

The back of the cups is a very fine wire mesh in a herringbone pattern. My favorite part of the design is the T1 cutout. Some nice Ethiopian Hair Sheep pads would be a good upgrade and might make the bass pick up some.
  3. By "it" do you mean all of that above^^ ? No, I don't think it can synthesize and symbolize an idiom, era or any discernible group of people. But I wasn't offering it as another example of your hypothesis. I just happen to be listening to it.

  6. Wow, you are a traveling fool! That show will be awesome. Try not to be so drunk that you fall asleep. I've heard about that happening there. Hawt! Who needs blemished HF1-2s?! Fucking fuckity fuck! Moar gin is obviously needed.
  7. Holy shit, now I am jealous I cannot go to that meet!

These are cool looking, but I am in the minority that likes the HD800's looks. The cable is hefty, split L/R all the way to the plug, which is a Neutrik. The cable reads: Peacock MKII2x2x0, 22mm2 (AWG24) - audio [aes/ebu] - OFC by Sommer Cable - Germany Seems odd about the aes/ebu reference on the cable, but what do I know. Definitely going to balance these into a 4-pin XLR.
  9. Milt Jackson -- The Prophet Speaks Sounds pretty damn good on the T1 fresh out of the box.

I'm going to need one of these as a headphone stand. Todd came through and the T1 arrived today. The case is spectacular, and probably my favorite headphone case I own. The actual T1 headphones are much smaller than I expected, and I understand Todd's comment about people with big ears now. Comfortable on the head, and my ears do fit inside the cups, but I can feel them a bit. Might get used to it and not notice pretty quickly. Nice fit-n-finish, though, and an appealing design aesthetic. Sound pretty good out of the box, but pretty polite so far. Not much like other Beyers, which is a good thing as Padam says. Here are some iPhone pics just to show the unveiling.

  13. Yeah, I like the cover art better than the album so far.

I will gladly relieve you of some vinyl at CJ.
  16. Apt title and expression on the cover photo, eh Stretch?
  17. I meant, did you get your sorry selves to your home so that you could have a giant snort of Scotch and try to adjust to the new reality of Eastern Standard Time.
  18. You betcha, Stretch. How's the jet lag feeling?
  19. Make it home yet, Stretch?
  20. Glad I could help.
  21. I know and that saddens me. Working in that area Thursday/Friday so staying over for the meet is a bonus.
  22. It will be great to meet Haj, and to see all the other folks who are going. I already asked Nate to change the thread title because the meet is actually Saturday March 6, but close enough.
  23. Not even a thread here in the 'Case for this meet!? Odd given that some illustrious Nor'East members are attending: Salty, Stretch, Nate, Ian (I hope so anyway), Deepak, Ari, Skullguise, voodoochile, others? And now that I am definitely going to be there, I thought I would put out the challenge to any others who might drag ass up to Beantown and turn this into a Travel Team Event. Jeff? Dinny? You guys need a little warm-up before the NYC meet. JP? Dan? Put together a carload from the DC/MD/PA/VA crew and this thing is rockin'! Come on, let's do this!
  24. Thanks for that rundown, Naaman, it is very helpful. I am thinking about the Lexus RX 450H hybrid that is about to come out, in part because I have the sedan and like it. I am assuming that the bigger Lexus is the GX460 and it does seem like a big truck. Did you drive a Q7? I've had a couple Audis and had very good luck with them.
  25. Nice. Which other cars did you consider? We are going to move on from minvan stage here soon, and I need to look at a few options.
