  1. dipshit (plural dipshits) 1. (vulgar) A stupid or undesirable person. 2. (vulgar) Something unwanted or undesirable. I don't have time for all this dipshit.
  2. Hey Harris, welcome to Head-Case! Sorry for the lack of response to your PM after the meet in San Mateo, but it was good to see you again. Have you ping'ed Bruce (utep10) about the ECD-1? He has had one for a long time and can tell you some of what you need to know. Also, tkam is selling his Northstar M192 mk2 for $1300 which is a good deal. You may have seen/heard that already but it is an option. Good luck! EDIT: Nate beat me to it. DEW EET X2!
  3. Go ahead and blame me for having the most awesomest desktop setup of any lawyer in America, I can take it. That is some sweet office tunage there, my friend. Enjoy it.
  4. How can you say that?
  5. Between you and Boomana, that pretty much summarizes the gist of fashion trends in my teens, but some really big names have been left off. Angel Flights were THE disco pants in my hood. I wasn't a disco dude, but had to wear them at a restaurant where I was a busboy. What about Dittos jeans for girls? I still have a pink pair burned into my brain that were worn by a girl at a school trip to an amusement park. BTW, Vicki, the panther trumpet shirt stays firmly on the geek side and does not make the flip.
  6. Yeah, their jewel boxes are nice, but I like the cardboard better. Smaller, thinner and LP'er.
  7. I should buy that dammit. I just received this MoFi title from Acoustic Sounds, in their new mini-LP style packaging:
  8. I can't decide which order say it in! Happy Tyll Birthday!
  9. Could be cool or could be shite, hard to say. The idea is a good one for sure.
  10. What he ^^^ said! Happy birthday, if a little late. Cheers!
  11. Man, East Coast Counsel's NDAs must be better than I thought because this is one dry impressions thread! Where is the drama? Where is Stevieo behaving badly? Where is all the beer/whisky/controlled substances? Looks like you actually had meet at the meet. Oh well, I hope it was fun. I also hope Guzzi got linked back up with Vicki because just as I was entering Glacier National Park with my family and a French foursome following along, Ken called me for Vicki's cell phone number. Life in the communications age...
  12. You cannot "connect" the Harbeths to your DAC because they are passive speakers which require an amplifier. The ADM9 is supposed to be a very good active speaker, which means they are self-powered and have amplifiers built into the speaker cabinets. Seems like you need active speakers and if you are willing to spend the amount needed for the ADM9s then that seems like a good option--the reviews have been good but I have never heard them. You could also try to audition other good quality active/powered monitors that you can access in your area. You can check out active speakers by Quad, Dynaudio, Genelec, Blue Sky, NHT, and others. Not sure if you can find the ADM9s still, but the ADM9.1 also have a built-in DAC that you do not need since you have the Prima on the way. I assume the ADM9 is cheaper now than the 9.1
  13. I don't know why that thing was so huge, but it is gone now. Not worth it anyway.
  14. x2 :palm: @shinichi: Other than mentioning the fact that when I was a kid many years ago we hosted a japanese exchange student by your name, I was posting because I am curious like others above what your actual choice is between. Option A: Full Audiophile Desktop with HeadRoom Amps and Harbeth speakers for $5,860.80 vs. Option B: digital out from a computer and direct into the AVI ADM9.1 for about $2,200? It might help to answer your question. Without knowing exactly what you are thinking about, I can say that Tyll Hertsens of HeadRoom has stated that they tested out various high-end active monitors and found them inferior to passive monitors and their class-D amplifiers. Take that for what it is worth, but my more anecdotal experience would be the same and I dearly loved the HeadRoom setup with the Harbeths when I heard it in Florida at CanJam. Factoring in that the ADM9.1s are doing the digital to analog conversion in my assumed Option B and that is another reason why I think you could do better. On the other hand, Hi-Fi Choice and the article by Mario Greppi (whoever he is) suggest that the ADM9.1s are excellent and even better when doing D-to-A for themselves.
  15. Oh, and we made you a cake. Hope it doesn't get wrecked in the mail! Cheers!
  16. Happy birthday tkam! Cheers!
  17. Yeah, but the shit that country bumpkin writes won't hold up!
  18. I'm awful jealous that you folks are getting together this weekend and I am missing out. I hope it is a smashing good time and that many pics and impressions of the drinking and frivolity will ensue. Maybe a couple comments about gear and stuff would be good too.
  19. [johnnycarson]I did not know that![\johnnycarson] What amp(s) did you get?
  20. I just received the 7MDH and it is HUGE! Shit, I guess I will stick with it but HighLife must have had the 6MDH when I saw it at CanJam because it could not have been this big. It will be easy fit a lot of shit in here, but damn it is a big-ass bag.
  21. Congrats George, your amp looks excellent! I sought out this thread to post how much I am enjoying my Rockhopper B22 right now. Shelby Lynn and Dylan sound equally awesome and I am listening with CD3Ks, which are neither balanced nor R-10s. This is a great amp and Stephen did extra special magic on this one (given that he made it for himself). GOOD STUFF!
  22. Pretty much the same without the fancy Applescripts. Want to use FrontRow more 'acause it looks so purty.
