Going rate for RS-1...

Featured Replies

....brown headband, original wooden box, more or less unused?

I know a pair with brown headband, most likely original flats without packaging went on A'gon for $450 recently. This probably won't help, but used newer RS-1's (not the new new one without wooden buttons) have been going on Head-Fi for ~$500 - $550.

I can remember a pair on eBay selling for around 600-700. It wasn't mint though: the cable was very twisted. IIRC, Nikongod from Head-Fi bought them.

I'd be interested, if you have one to sell.

Just to let everyone know I am not planning to sell these now I just wanted to gauge their current value.

I bought them from Larry @ Headphile who said they'd never been used. These aren't just mint condition they're NOS.

ack, sounds cool. :)

Cool indeed. :)

So where in the world does Larry get all these goodies from?

I pretty much think all he does is cruise ebay, search search search, find local listings, etc. I mean if you devote 90% of your time simply to finding rare headphones, I am sure you will be pretty successful.

and very, very lonely. :'(

Company is over rated anyway. I can drink and talk utter bullshit on my own.

...and most of us listen to headphones for crying out loud, not exactly the most social of activities.

How about another question?

What's the going rate for an unused NOS pair of PS-1's (late serial number 145)?

Jeebus. I suspect you'd be able to get around $2K or more for them, judging from the recent sales on HF and some on eBay.

$1000. Give me your fucking paypal address.

I've seen ps1s sell for everything between $700 (what I paid) and $2400 (JG2s, on ebay). I'd guess $1800-2200 for true unopened ps1s. But I'm also guessing yours aren't really NOS, but instead, lightly used.

That's what he gets for acting like a monkey. :)

Damnit, I missed the original post.

On a side note, $700 for PS-1? Damn.

damn me too

They were in awful shape.

Wait, I think I know which one you bought, at least I do. I remember that thread.

Probably. They were a lot like yours. Goofy beyer headband, cpads that left tacky residue on the cups, dings galore. Got them from an administrator on this board :). I may have paid a little more than 700, it's been a long while. But I couldn't resell them later, so I had them made into ps3000s.

In my defense, mine did not have any dings. Or tack residue for that matter since I figured out a way to secure c-pads without using sticky tacks.
