I'm also confused about keeper issues...

My keeper was drafted in the 2nd round, but my autodraft setup shades my 1st round pick & has an asterisk saying this rule will be ignored this pick is used for a keeper...

I have set the Draft order. I used Random.org and put the team names and owners into the system. I had a biscuit today, so my ranking makes sense.

If you don't know how to choose, go to your ESPN team's page, and under the "My Team" tab, make sure you choose "Roster", look under your team's name and you should see "Select Keepers."

I've done some research and it looks like ESPN uses rounds 1-5 for keepers, POSSIBLY going 1-10 instead of snaking. I'm not sure, since we're only doing 1 keeper per Grand Poobah VPI, if it will start round 2 with the list above, or snake and a reverse list. We should know by 7pm tomorrow (Eastern.) As Jeff will probably not be around, I will try to handle anything that comes up.

From my research, it's POSSIBLE that if you choose to not have a keeper, you could use that first round as a typical first round, and make a pick. I'm not 100% on that, though. If you have any questions, please put them here and/or PM me.

I think you might be mistaken as I've selected & saved my keeper multiple times & there's a big fat blue K next to him in my roster (& he ain't a kicker)...Also, am I to understand that, regardless of what round we drafted them, our keepers will count as our first round picks?...

Please clarify as it's now draft day & I'm thinking I might be better off not selecting a keeper if there's no penalty...

This.  While somewhat dependent on who would be actually be available, no one on my roster is worth a 1st round pick.

K is for keeper. I'm thinking that it's going to be "keepers in round one."

I don't know if VPI has looked into this more, but it's definitely a possibility that the keepers are going to be round 1, no matter which round you drafted them. I'm going to bed now, but google it and see if there's something else out there for sure.

Will try to pick this up in the morning.

ESPN gives no other option. If you choose a keeper, it will be your first round pick. If you have no one worthy then don't choose a keeper. Also do not forget that the normal first round people may all be gone when you get your first pick.
