Briefcases, Bags, and the Murse

I like the Tumi Alpha Bravo line a lot, Deepak. Not sure if the 15.2" will fit though, it says up to 15"...

That Tumi is hot. Will see if I can check it out in person.

I don't particularly want to go down the sleeve + any bag route.

  • Okay I must have missed something. What the heck is BAI? The only super low thing I can think of is Brent's Annual Income.

  • Empire Builder to replace my stolen Tumi briefcase.  Needed to switch it up to break the bad karma.  Oh, and I am going to have Jeff wire it with a self-destruct mechanism to fuck up anybody who takes

  • I could easily spend 10 BAI at Saddleback Leather Co.

New bags added to the Think Tank retrospective lineup. There is now a "7" which is very similar in size to the "10" but now has an official pocket to carry the ipad or 11" Air.

Are you getting one, Shelly?

Probably... ok, most likely will get one (in Pinestone, not the new color) and sell the 10. I was thinking of getting the Urban Disguise for the purpose but I think this will work better. Maybe I should get both and compare though. :)

Get both, obviously.

I wish more of their bags came in Pinestone as I really like the color a lot more than black (or new Blue Slate for that matter). Though I guess my Speed Freak would look weird in that color.

Speaking of 10, how much can/do you fit in there?

Dinny: I really love the Think Tank Retrospective 5 and 10. Much better quality and comfort than my old Crumpler. If you wanted some thing really compact, you could get away with the 5 but it won't hold much more than the 10. The 10 will give you lots of room for camera, lenses, flash etc. I found that the 20 was much too large for me. Think Tank products are really great. If you want to also carry an ipad or 11" Air, you might want to wait for the 7.

I have the tenba discovery photo laptop messenger and absolutely love it. The camera sections lifts out completely for when you want to pack for a couple of nights and want to take your laptop but no camera (business trip etc). Completely packed it held my 13"MBA, charger, d7000 (without the vertical grip) with a rokinon 35mm/1.4 (big ass lens), nikkor 50mm/1.8, sigma 30mm/forget f stop, a couple of notebooks, assortment of pens, pencils, wallet, phone, jh16. Oddly enough it wasn't bad at all to walk around with.

dinny ... get your skinny Irish ass down to B&H and check out a bunch in person. From personal experience, I'll 2nd the Think Tank Retro 5 - 10 and Gator with insert, and switch up the Domke to the F-3x.

Anyone happen to know of someone wanting to get rid of a Tom Bihn ID bag for a decent price? I've watched a few on Ebay but haven't pulled the trigger. I think I'm going to try it out at this point though, and just looking to save some money at this point from buying new :)

I didn't get the Retrospective 7 before leaving. I am not sure about the UD 50 though - it seems so giant briefcase like and really heavy (even empty). I'd probably only use that for traveling though and keep the Retrospective 7/10 and 5 for everyday around town stuff. I'll have to load it up and see how it carries.
