My shelves are filling up with Gondwana and ACT vinyl, so while doing a bit of cleaning I rescued these little gems. Isao Suzuki I have the XRCD versions and although their price today is exorbitant, I must admit that they sound very, very good...

I really liked this. I don't even know how to describe it -- it's like somewhere between the jazz of Mammal Hands and GoGo Penguin, and ... post-rock? IDK...

Cara Dillon - After The Morning. A tender and beautiful voice, wonderful songs, several nice ballads with a touch of traditional Irish sound/instruments. Great for a mellow Sunday morning. Sample:

As I remember it normal is what I did, i.e. same GND point for LV and HV.

Hi, @MLA I'm planning to test this next month, and I have one more question: The low-voltage ±15V supply GND on the Carbon PCB is connected to the high-voltage GND. Does the ±15V supply also need to float somehow in this configuration, or should I simply connect the GRLV GND to the Carbon GND as normal? I'm trying to make sure I understand the grounding scheme correctly before I start wiring everything up.

Not from Costco. https://www.dreo.com/products/513s-smart-ceiling-fan https://a.co/d/0dvZat5n (Any many more YT reviews, whose discount codes may or may not work). The Costco option started the ceiling fan journey having spotted various neighbors ceiling fans on our nightly walk around the complex. Luckily the ceiling junction box was fan rated, so no additional work there. Dreo ticked the Smart remote /App / "Hey Google" integration boxes. Available in 3, 4 and 5 bladed options at 44 and 52 inch diameters. Couldn't persuade Joanne of the necessity of RGB in the bedroom.

I'm finally getting around to listening to Sonny Rollins. We've been at the lake house for a few weeks. Will listen to, Way Out West, when I get back to my vinyl rig. Till then, Qobuz will have to suffice.

@Grahame was the acceptable replacement also from Costco? Brand and model name?

RIP Marcia Lucas. Not only did she put up with being married to George Lucas, she took the steaming pile that was his ideas and turned it into A New Hope. George Lucas is the definitive example that it is better to be lucky than talented. At every turn, he blundered into meeting people with abilities far beyond his own who could elevate his murky and misconceived visions into cultural touchstones. Peter Crushing was the absolute master class at portraying a bad guy. Sir Alec Guinness could inflect the most hokey dialogue imaginable in a way that resonated with like six different generations. James Earl Jones had the voice of all time. Irvin Kershner was a deftly skilled directory with decades of experience. Unlike George, Lawrence Kasdan actually was an accomplished screenwriter. Also Carrie Fisher was lighting in a bottle. I'm sorry, this is about about George's ex-wife, not The Neck himself.

Thanks, yeah it’s a strong app and I use occasionally. This is where we get to the apples to apples question. [Switching to Adobe-speak] Affinity, is a great Photoshop replacement, not so much Lightroom. Trick is Capture One covered what I needed for both. The Photoshop-Lightroom division has always felt abnormal from a photography perspective (though PS is obviously used by non-photographers too). PhotoLab is close as tries a similar approach, but because its focus is camera and lens corrections, it won’t even import (or fall back to OS processing) any non-supported combos. You’re dead in the water with many cameras, including several I use. Anyway, first world problems, but all ears for suggestions and thanks for this one. -

Looks like Capture One will be sold again. https://petapixel.com/2026/05/28/capture-ones-private-equity-owner-is-trying-to-sell-it-report/ I really don’t want to go back to an Adobe subscription, Exposure (aka Alien Skin) hasn’t been updated in a few years, PhotoLab doesn’t seem to have any interest in demosaicing old or unusual sensors, and my experiences with Luminar and ON1 have not been positive. Maybe time to give Darktable a try, unless others have a different recommendation? -

The Plot to Eliminate Gaza https://web.archive.org/web/20260529135655/https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/the-board-of-peaces-plot-to-eliminate-gaza.html https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/the-board-of-peaces-plot-to-eliminate-gaza.html "The Board’s charter does not mention the word Gaza once. The stated mission comes with a much broader ambition: to promote stability, restore governance, and secure peace in areas affected or threatened by conflict — anywhere. Gaza seems to be merely the Board’s first deployment. Under its own logic, the three active military fronts currently disrupting the Middle East — Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran — are theaters of war that should be resolved by the Board, if only they were not being waged by two Board members, the U.S. and Israel."
