I totally missed this thread. Maybe I am subconsciously trying to forget I’m old. Anyway my thanks to all-you-all for the birthday wishes.

San Anselmo ended their 2025 Live on The Avenue Season with a very well attended Performance by Super Diamond As the band Said Don't let anyone tell you, that Niel Diamond doesn't ROCK! In addition, there was a DJ In Imagination Park (thanks Mr Lucas) (Check out the states of Indiana Jones, and Yoda in the background)

Posted on FB, had an awesome Music and Audio day yesterday. A vendor demo visit to a local dealer, met new people, listened to a near-$500K system, and reminisced with some old coots like myself who loved the Boston music scene in the 70's and 80's. Re-connected with an industry guy who I hadn't seen in maybe 25 years....got a hug of support when we shared our spouses' cancer history. His wife is still living, and I stressed to him to be ever-vigilant and monitor as much as possible; I'd rather scare people a bit and have them advocate than to keep losing lives thinking "I'm 100% cured." I just hope she never has to go back to treatments. But was a wonderful time. I won a raffle item of a McIntosh-sponsored Johnny Cash audiophile LP set. From the original Sun Master Tapes, 45rpm 180Gram vinyl, yada yada. Looking forward to trying it out! On the live music scene, last night an Audio Buddy and I saw Hiromi on her Sonicwonder tour. Just a stunning and engaging show! I last saw her in 2013, and both times were just fantastic. The venue was lovely as well....and an Angel's Envy neat in an "adult sippy cup" (plastic cup with plastic cover to help reduce spills) topped the eve off well.

I just thought something funny... These women are Al's Sister in Laws, a lesbian couple. They and their gay carpenter seem so excited to put up closet doors, even though we spent a good portion of time knocking them down. Just caught me as ironic.

That's fantastic!

Thumb is almost fully healed. And the homeowners knew that I had to do a lot more work than what we originally talked about, because their contractor wasn't supposed to build out the opening, so they agreed to pay more. Enough to cover the cost of the saw blade and cartridge. Hurray for Saw Stop! The handles for the doors and vanity are supposed to be in sometime in October. Then I can completely finish up.

All of them look splendid Steve, but how is teh finger?

I made some cotton sleeved speaker cables - going to get them hooked up to my horns which I moved my rack over to the side and as such needed two different length cables… couldn’t find any coconut fiber sleeving

I think that I already mentioned that the floor is out 1/4" just in the span of the two doors. You don't feel it, and certainly can't see it. However, if I had cut the door bottoms straight across, it'd be very noticeable. So instead the left side is 1/4" longer than the right side, and I cut that angle to match the floor. That gave me a perfect 1/4" gap at the bottom of the doors. I hate when interior doors have a giant gap at the bottom. As these solid Oak doors are heavy, I installed 3" brass screws into the hinges on the framing side. These reach into the studs and not just the jambs. Then I used two inch screws on the door side of the hinges. This will guarantee no sagging over time.

Installed the doors this morning. I aborted the installation last Sunday, because I didn't want to take the chance of scratching/denting them trying to reach my lumber rack by myself. Today I had the owners help and her pickup. I'm always nervous, even though I measured three times. There's just no room for even 1/16" of error. Luckily they fit perfectly.

If you need 2SC4686a – check this link. German company claiming they have 4000 pieces available. I bought a couple of hundreds 10 years ago and they were genuine.

Panasonic makes great film caps. I've used many different types for many applications. When used for audio coupling, my experience has been that higher voltage ratings tend to sound better. Look for caps designed for high frequency, high voltage, high current circuits (like PFC or resonant power circuits) and you'll usually find good construction that has nothing objectionable to audio. The ECWFD series you linked has copper-clad steel leads. I tend to look for copper leads on principle, though most datasheets will just say "wire leads". According to a list I made many years ago, Panasonic series ECWH(V), ECWH(C), and ECWFG have copper leads. Series ECWF(L), ECWF(A), ECQUA have copper or copper-clad leads. I think the leads are more likely to be copper with higher voltage ratings. The only slightly annoying thing about the Panasonic caps is that they'll sometimes throw out a non-standard lead spacing (17.5mm, why?), but I don't think that will matter to most people.

Claudia Cardinale, the famed Italian actress, passed away on Tuesday. Not sure which one of her movies - quite possibly "Once Upon A Time In The West", or just as likely "The Pink Panther" - sparked my initial crush in my early, prepubescent years. But I just knew she had "it": "Ciao bella". RIP

TRON: Ares by Nine Inch Nails (2025) https://album.link/jq5ws98zwg6sx Example: Good not great for me. I think I could make a pretty nice listening set by making a shorter playlist out of the 20 tracks. I will see if my interest is piqued post movie.
