I?m considering running an alternative OS to Windows XP. I?m thinking one of the Linux variants. I have never used Linux so I am unsure how to proceed. So I have a few questions. I?d want a dual boot XP/Linux. Does anyone know of good tutorial web sites concerning this? Any opinions on the different versions of Linux? Does anyone know of music software for Linux (Open source) Burning/Ripping/Playing? Can I put both boot sections on one drive? I do have two drives so it?s not an issue. Any sites listing open source (Free) applications for Linux? Is Linux what I should be looking at? Thanks

seems a little strange to me... 1) why in the world was the B52 picked! a person can put together at least 5 just as good whole rigs for that price. 2) um... how can a person raffle off something they dont' own? 3) at it's root, ticket holders are subsidizing the purchase of an amplifier for someone else, with little potential profit going to the charity. 4) Ray is getting to sell a 5K amp at full price, making more profit than any other party in this deal.

I'm looking to get my first HDTV and right now these two are at the top of my list: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-4hNQdT9K5AE/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?I=305hls5679&wm=cl http://www.crutchfield.com/S-3V6SbpYDHGy/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=147350&I=15855A2000 My seating area is about 8 ft away so I'm thinking something in the 50" - 55" range would be just about perfect. The Samsung is about the top of my budget and I'd really prefer to spend less.

Republican Voters Stay Home Anti-Incumbency Wins? By J.B. Williams If I could get a dollar for every time we are going to hear the word ?mandate? in the next 72 hours, I could get out of Dodge and retire to a Caribbean island in style, where I wouldn?t have to endure this? Speaker Elect Pelosi and Senate Leader Elect Reid are two of the most anti-American socialist members of Congress - now in control of Congress. They can thank Republican voters for their new-found power, but they won?t. They will jam it up their bumm instead? Five of nine registered voters are registered Republican, making it a numerical impossibility for socialist Democrats to win power in…

I just learned of this site tonight at the head-fi meet, as jay casually mentioned it. Then I see he's got hundreds of posts here, and there are a bunch of other guys I recognize from head-fi! Then I try and create an account, and it already has my name/pw. Firstly how the hell did this escape me for so long (and what exactly is it)? And did you guys scoop the head-fi database or what?

Miracles happen! The democrats have taken control of the house, and it looks like they will ultimately take the senate. Now let?s see if they can grow a set and hold hearings to exercise oversight over the executive branch. Let?s see if they are capable of reversing this administrations deconstruction of the constitution. I don?t hold out much hope that the Democrats will hold the administration accountable for their crimes. The democrats have run to the middle in an effort to pander to the independents and the ?Liberal Republicans? basically abandoning true liberals (Like me). Conservatives (Republicans) shouldn?t be too upset at the loss. The current Democrati…

The O.E.D. is a historical dictionary, providing citations meant to show the evolution of every word, beginning with the earliest known usage. So a key task, and a popular sport for thousands of volunteer word aficionados, is antedating: finding earlier citations than those already known. This used to be painstakingly slow and chancy. When Paton started in new words, she found herself struggling with headcase. She had current citations, but she says she felt sure it must be older, and books were of little use. She wandered around the office muttering headcase, headcase, headcase... See here. [NYTimes]

I just noticed this. As I am a keyboard shortcut kinda guy, I always take full advantage of the "alt + S" to submit a post. In FF2, however, this is now the shortcut for the History menu. Is it just me that this is going to affect? Let us rise up, and make FF2 fix the woeful problem, so I don't have to use my bloody mouse... or use another 2 key combination such as "Tab/Space or Tab/Enter"... tis just not the same. **BRENT**

So since I'm in college, on a extremely limited fund of money, I tend to download music when I'm searching for new things to listen to. I saw that there was Pedro's BTMusic Tracker that has everything in flac, which is great, but you need to get invited to join. Is anyone on this forum who has an account there, and if so, would you be willing to send me a invitation? Thanks, Dave

Have you ever wanted to go up to some person and ask him a totally random question just to see how he'd react? I admit that I sometimes want to do that at my Customs job, after asking the standard "where you been, got anything to declare?" stuff I feel like saying something really random and weird just for the hell of it. Questions like "what's the flaccid to errect size ratio of your penis?" or "did you know that an iPod will fit up your vagina?" So what are the random questions you feel like asking people?

Pretty much the only posts I've ever seen from PUGSTUB are him selling off gear, particularly PCDPs, that he seems to acquire from various places (I think at least a few came from eBay). Is that basically OK by head-fi's rules? I'm a bit confused since someone had said once to me that they don't like you making a business selling things on head-fi without being an MoT.
