Happy birthday John. You have good news and bad news. The good news is that you made it to the big 60....... The bad news is that you live on the wrong side of Australia. There's nothing you can do about the good news, but the bad news needs working on...

Recently got a Fitbit Flex from Julie and it has been alarming as to how sedentary my lifestyle had become. Was barely doing 1500 steps most of which came from walking to and from the library. Anyhow, if anyone else has a fitness tracker and wants to do challenges feel free to add me on the fitbit website - [email protected]. Also, just found a great website, www.matchup.io which syncs data from various trackers from different companies so people with different trackers can still do challenges together. The website also has challenges that you can do with other people on the internet - I just signed up for this one - https://matchup.io/group/4746/yellowstone-park-…

Only one more year to go before the half century. May all your diaphragms be the right tension and make beautiful music when under electrostatic pressure. :frantic:

Hey now! Short story is I'm tired of messing with phone cameras. There's always something I'm unhappy with: apps are slow to load, difficult to hold the phone and take a good picture, changing settings using a touchscreen, takes too long for pictures to focus, etc. What I'm looking for is a nice point n' shoot for vacations, family pictures, and totin' around music festivals. Most music festivals won't let you into the concert grounds with a camera with a detachable lens, as they reserve this privilege for people with press passes. Some have revised their rules to be "no detachable lenses over 2 inches" or something similar, but I'd rather it not be an issue as al…

A very good friend of mine, Jameson, is riding in Death Ride Tour in honor of a friend who is suffering from ALS. Below is a message I received from Jameson. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hello to all. This year, we are doing two fundraiser bike rides. Death Ride - a fundraiser for ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and Tour de Cure - the same diabetes fundraiser that we always do. Why Death Ride? One of my best friends has ALS. He was one of the toughest guys I knew. Five years ago, we were doing mountain centuries, and didn't think much of it. Out of nowhere, he started complaining about cramping after long…

After the batteries in the laundry, I decided to check all the battery powered devices for corrosion/leaks last night. I have a tactical flashlight with CR123a lithium batteries in it. When I opened it up, there was black powder around the batteries. I put the batteries back in the flashlight, I tried googling this and the only thing I could find was black residue after a lithium battery explosion which seems quite toxic. I'm hoping that this is just carbon or something. The batteries work, although to guess this could be from the last pair when they went bad (they didn't explode either). Does anyone know what this might be? Should it throw away the batteries and/or f…
