Please. (Mebbe I forgot that last time.) I like some jazz, but I have to admit to not "getting" the less melodic stuff. The stuff I enjoy the most is the stuff that is the most melodic. That said, I'm willing to experiment, so don't take that as a hard-and-fast rule for recommendations -- just qualify. Please. I'm thinking I really need to see "Straight No Chaser" (the movie executive produced by Clint Eastwood). I picked up Brilliant Corners and ...with John Coltrane on SACD, what else should I get? Does he have any "Deluxe Editions", or should I stick with the RVG's?

I'd like everyone to give me their impressions of my remaster of a great 80's song. I'll post the original and the remaster, but not say which is which. Please compare the two and tell me which one is better. Send big files the easy way. Files too large for email attachments? No problem! Send big files the easy way. I'm not really familiar with Aphex Twin, but I found this awesome mashup: http://www.100dbs.com/mixes/aphex/ I'm not a huge fan of mashups, but some of these cuts are awesome. The last one with Kool Keith is amazing, and Breathe And Stop (Q-Tip) is much better than the original imo. The other one I really like is Time's Up For Freeman, Hardy And Willis with O.C. The rest are ok or kind of bad, but definitely listen to those 3 if you like hip-hop or Aphex Twin, or music in general.

So one fine evening on boxing day, still stuffed full of leftover turkey and feeling tired from 3 days straight of overeating, I am listening to some tunes. I've just gotten back from 3 days without headphone access. I'm listening to a lossless flac file and stop to take the headphones off all of a sudden... I think to myself 'wtf are my headphones/ears broken?' What has changed in these 3 days? I sit back in disbelief as I pack another bowl of some decent 'AA' BC hydroponic, contemplating how I will pursue a music career being deaf, or at least having sub-par hearing. Then, I see winamp flickering through the different mp3 bitrates (as it does with variable on…

Anyone in LA going to the Stripmall Architecture even this Saturday? Apparently they're going to be selling an exclusive CD at the event which I would very much want. If someone wants to pick an extra one up for me, I would gladly pay for it + shipping/handling + a little extra for your efforts for me.

I know most of you probably already know this from reading over at the sh.tv forums, but this is too exciting not to mention here. Quoted from Steve Hoffman: "As most of the world knows today, it has been announced that Rhino/WB/Reprise has undertaken the most ambitious vinyl reissue program of any major label in recent history. Spurred on by a vinyl lover high up in the Warner Bros./Reprise records administration, I can now reveal that Kevin and I have been remastering for Rhino 180 gram vinyl the cream of the WB/Reprise back catalog for release. Mastered at AcousTech and pressed on virgin vinyl at RTI, Camarillo, these albums will feature the original artwork, …

Anyone have any predictions? Or how about actual knowledge? SACD has firmly entrenched itself as a niche market...and getting "nicher". Are either HD-DVD or BluRay going to carry high-res audio, either high-rate PCM or DSD? (Can you tell I just read in this month's Stereophile the "As We See It"?) I WANT MY HIGH-RES!!!1!

Here's a short Sterephile review of Newmans newest. One of the most fun purchases I'm made recently. Course for a couple months recently I was listening almost exclusively to Randy, so maybe I'm a bit biased there.

It's that time of the year again. One of these days I plan to attend but I'm happy enough to get my yearly wake up call of what's happening in the music world outside of my own melon. Here's a link to NPR's Austin 100. I usually use it to jot down artists I want to try and find streams of and hopefully shamelessly copy! https://www.npr.org/2018/03/01/585356494/the-austin-100-a-2018-sxsw-mixtape

I think this might be the phattest drum beat in history. Blackalicious - First In Flight off Blazing Arrow. If you can get past Gift of Gab's ridiculous mc skills and Gil-Scott Heron's vocals, you'll hear this insanely phat ride cymbal and the beat will take over you. I'm not totally sure who plays it, but I think it is ?uestlove of The Roots as he has a writing credit on it and played on another song on the album. Song here: http://www.mediafire.com/?3xn6zoh0jtm Why not post the phattest drum beat you can find for comparison?

There are little tangents, like Headphone Journey. "Incredible tones and textures for spacing out, as well as recordings that reward particularly close listening." Seems to have a good variety of material.

Has anyone heard this band's debut CD? They're spirit's of the 70s, no doubt. I think it's one of the better hard rock albums I've heard in a LONG time. I'm not sure I'd call it a great album, but it's a really solid debut. I'll be watching (and listening to) these guys, I think.

http://www.browntracker.net/ Very cool, I didn't know this site existed. Torrent site specifically for Ween and Ween-related goodness, and no lossy files! With the new album and the discovery of this site, I think I'll be getting back into Ween.
