Alright, I'm thinking suites of songs that are shorter than an album side. So, I have accumulated a good amount of Opera over the years and have decided to take a systematic approach to listening through it. Some of the stuff has decent libretti and notes included, but I am looking for some additional external sources. I definitely would like a compendium that includes English translations, as I have a lot of Euro releases without any English, but also looking for reviews of performances and what not. Any recommendations of some things I can grab on Amazon? My goal is to do headphone (audio-only) listen-through and then BluRay / move theater / live and then back to a speaker rig (audio-only, probably) over say the next 3 years.

I'm going through the process of ripping my music collection in ALAC and I'm having a hard time finding a right way to tag classical files. I'm quite anal about tagging my music and keeping it clean, but with classical music, it seems like there's no proper way. How do you manage your collection?

I've been finding myself more and more unsatisfied by the post-rock scene, which seems to be the one area keeping the space-rock flag raised, what with both Riverside's and Antimatter's recent changes in direction. So make me some suggestions. What I'm looking for is that patient approach to music that songs like "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" (starting at part one), "Echoes", Talk Talk's "The Rainbow", etc.

I have been listening to some Flim & the BB's albums lately, not my usual preferred type of music, but I did enjoy it a lot. Music is very nice and production is very 80's, but recording quality itself was so fricking cool. Dynamic range on my original CD from the 80's is very impressive, it can go from very soft to explosive in a split second and shows what a good setup can do. I have a few other CDs like that, like some Russian choir recording, but not a lot. Any suggestion for good music with wild very dynamic recording? Binaural and extremely dynamic would be even better

All of the sudden I have become very interested in the Pre-Beethoven composers. It started with Bach's Mass In B-Minor (Gardiner) and moved on some of Haydn's symphonies (Sir Colin Davis). Beyond that all I have is whatever Mozart and Bach shows up on the Living Stereo releases. So any classical period or even earlier stuff you could recommend would be wonderful. I'm looking for specific recording recommendations, rather then "get mozart's 40th" type recommendations. I'm currently listening to Lisa Stansfield's "All around the World", a tune that has a strong power to rise my spirits. In fact most of her first album can do that.
