  1. VPI - that catback looks great! I dig what you've done with the XT....looks just mean enough for a quick grocery getter. A fast SUV with big brakes, good handling (adjustable suspension settings), proper trans and motor is hard to beat for a daily if you have a family. Sufficiently raised to deal even with Houston streets. Big bonus. Then a proper car in the garage for vroom vroom. Picked this up to teach my 16 yr old how to drive a stick car properly... HS

  2. Yeah I was just telling Dan that I really do not have any reason to have two slow, but sometimes fun cars. I should dump the S4 and get something actually fast. Some late night shots of the work.

  3. I may be their first patient to go in for an "exchange nailing" of the femur rod who went home the next day. Sayonara Swedish Medical Center, hello home with my new tempur-pedic bed... The doctor, physical therapist, and occupational therapist saw how well I was doing moving around, and cleared me for discharge. My fracture doesn't hurt anymore, but boy am I sore around the incisions, with tender and stiff muscles all around my upper leg! So, I get to double my dose of Oxycodone for the next several days. Can you say Buzz?

  4. That's like asking someone which of his children he loves more? Or in Doug's case, which cat?

  7. Finally starting to get the Forester XT (STI) where I want it. STI Swift Springs, STI Steering Wheel and Nameless Performance exhaust. Drives soooooo much better now.

  8. Prison is for how fast you are going, not how fast you get there. The 570 sucks getting in and out just as much as the rest, driving I do not know. I think the 911 is much more often a daily based on how good of a car it is. I wouldn't want one of the more exotics unless I also had a Porsche or Bentley as the daily. Bentley if I was required to pick up the kids, 911 back seat is just silly.

  11. Hey gang, So, I woke up in post-op recovery about 4 hours ago. I'm having much better pain control than the last few leg surgeries. I've got a 1mg/hour morphine drip and can push a button to get an extra 1mg every 10 minutes, but only need it like every 30-60 minutes. The doctor says things went really well, and if I hadn't swapped the old skinny rod in my femur for this fatter one that I'd probably have never had my bone heal. The old rod wasn't very tight inside the bone anymore, and I was wobbling around on the rod, basically re-breakng any bone that would have been healing. i was very scared to have a fifth surgery after the accident, but I'm so happy that I did. I'll likely go home Saturday, but I'm hoping that if my pain is under control and my weight bearing with physical therapy goes well today that I could go home tomorrow (30-40% chance if I push hard).

  12. Thanks to this video And these inexpensive parts I was able to implement this http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/15-7th-generation/42915-diy-power-steering-pump-o-ring-tsb.html And it works as described (No more noise from the steering pump at startup on cold mornings) (No air in system due to loose seal, so no cavitation in pump, I'm guessing) Thanks Internet

  16. I'm with you guys. Tired of it. Thanks for the tip, Bryan! But after you texted me this week, I wasn't excited at all to go on the chase. That night, I realized like you all that I'm no longer interested in playing that game, and would rather know about the reasonably priced (HC) gem that's not so impossible to find.

  17. After the drive home I can say that the XT is finally where it should be as the sportier version go the Forester. Swift Springs ride smoother on regular road than the stock springs and the dual stage springs really kick in on the curves. Did the corkscrew exit twice on the way home. Once the tires are replaced with something non-awful this thing will be a really fun drive that can also haul all my stuff.

  18. LOL...I guess I do. It's been fun. I went from my daily driver being a 2010 Dodge RAM crew cab to the Jeep and the technology is pretty wild relatively speaking. Been a lot of fun. The 8-speed with paddles mated to the 6.4L is good fun on the highway. The launch control...well, that's just good sport but completely unnecessary. 4.4 0-60mph in a pig on all season radials is pure comedy. HS

  21. The price for this so wants me to make a one off amp just to fuck with them. Take a solid block of brass and carve it out. Then have a blurb that says that the brass actually shields while the marble does fuck all. Solid titanium knob as it is nicer than plated brass. Tubes proudly relabled in Iceland. (as we don't want you to know who actually made them).. etc...

  29. Yeah didn't even try for the George T Stagg this year (or last).. I have a small pile of early bottles - good enough... I am tired of fighting for whisky - and waiting in beer lines.

  30. I have also given up on the LE American whiskey scene and gone back to searching good whisk(e)y that can be obtained easily. Really sucks for those of us that enjoyed it before it was cool.

  31. Well I officially struck out on Van Winkle this year. My one connection that looked like a sure bet (been on a list since July) didn't pan out and I had no interest in scrounging at random stores. It's fitting though. My perspective is that it is time to move on from the "Limited Edition" scene in American whiskey. Four Roses' old master distiller (Jim Rutledge) is retired now and his last LE contribution has been released... and as for all other LE's, most are not worth the price and none are worth the hassle. I've tried too many of the recent releases and spent too much money to think otherwise. Stuff like Booker's, Four Roses Single Barrel, Elijah Craig 12, and (of course) Turkey 101 represent what American whiskey should be. If you like scotch, now's a good time. Things sure are expensive but in many cases more justified than American equivalents. And it's a lot easier to find things here in the states. Bottles that fly off the shelves in the UK linger in my Chicago stores for months, if not years. I've got some specific single malts I need to explore but I am most interested and excited about grains and blends. Compass Box just released two new bottles in the states - "This is not a luxury whisky" and Flaming Heart 15th Anniversary. Both got some great feedback and Flaming Heart's mix of malts sounds fantastic. One random thought - I discovered why I love Black Bull 12 so much (may it RIP). Apparently there was a significant amount of ~20 yr Mortlach in the blend. MUST buy a few more bottles of it while it's still on shelves.
