  1. Well, got some bad news... The dog is fine, but she appears to have lost the puppy. Things were looking good this time last week, but mid-week she seemed to transition back to pre-pregnancy condition. We were really looking forward to having the two new additions, but if we're honest, this will be much more manageable, and we'll get to bring her home as soon as they can spay her. We'll probably get to pick her up the first weekend in December. Disappointing, but we were told this was a real possibility, do not entirely unexpected, either.

  2. Dug the hole today. You know, the hole that you dig at the start of every winter before the ground freezes, just in case one of your 8 pets dies in the next 5 months and you need a shallow grave on short notice? Nobody else does that?

  5. Yup. In fact the pair I built (starting with sheets of baltic birch ply) are the fifth pair down http://www.linkwitzlab.com/LX521/PhotoGallery.htm . Because they are pretty expensive to build (by the time you have the drivers, crossover and power amps) there is a thread here http://oplug-support.org/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=2787 that is people seeking auditions. Because there are now many hundreds (or even thousands) of pairs worldwide it is usually possible to find someone within striking distance so you can get a listen. In a shoot out between the LX521's and the LXmini http://www.linkwitzlab.com/LXmini/Introduction.htm that I did a week or so ago, the conclusion was that the mini sounded a little more forward and clearly lacking bass by comparison with the 521 - but the imaging was astounding. The advantage of the mini is that they are not only smaller, but a factor of several cheaper. This is the physical comparison and the comparative in-room response of L and R for both the LXmini and LX521 at the listening position (equilateral triangle). Frequency response irregularities at low frequency are room resonances. LXmini frequency response and LR match LX521 and LR match

  9. I don't know what to say to that. Do you also build your own ice rinks?

  11. I'm loving the second season of Fargo (loved the first season too). The characters are fantastic. 90% are so friggin clueless that it can drive you a little nuts but that's just part of the fun. I wondered why the episodes were an hour 20 min but I think that maybe the show is a full 60 minutes (plus 20 min of non-show)? If you love the Coen Brothers, you'll probably agree with me.

  12. Although I started this C1 thread, it was done so before getting the Yggy. Had I heard the Yggy first, then I wouldn't have done this thread, especially how the Yggy is making both my headphone combos sound after having it on power continuously for almost a week. A few days ago I was still thinking on saving for a C1, but that is now something I won't be doing, simply because the Yggy is giving SQ I'm extremely happy with and more. I'm going back to my original plan in that my next audio piece will be a KGSSHV Carbon, then hope Sennheiser do something similar to the HE-1060 but can be used with both the BHSE and Carbon.

  13. My local liquor store has 9 cases. $30 a bottle. If the wife gets home in time I will go get one. Maybe I should send an Uber to pick it up for me.

  14. On a slight tangent, here is the dipole subwoofer I use with my Quads. Behind the grill is a Hartley 24" driver.
