  1. Spent the day in Illinois. Short client meeting but hung out in Hinsdale the rest of the day. Found a great beer/wine store, Whole Foods here has a whole FFF beer section, great butcher shop with Prime Brisket, found a decent home audio shop and two decent bike shops. Have not found guitar or camera shops but I am sure they are here. Ferrari dealer is 2 blocks from the house so I take that as a good sign.

  4. wait, the 3rd picture is a different watch. That's the one I like The planet ocean is nice, just not as compelling for me personally. I think I like the professional because it looks like the breitling steelfish, tho.

  6. Have done 4 roastings now with SR500 and the evenness of the roast has gotten better each time. I hope it gets warmer soon so I can start roasting outside.

  7. Joe Garagiola, beloved baseball announcer, dies at 90: http://wgntv.com/2016/03/23/joe-garagiola-beloved-baseball-announcer-dies-at-90/ Well written title to this article; he really was a beloved announcer. He was such an easy going guy with a great announcing voice and so many interesting stories, but he never made anything about him. It was always about the game. RIP, Joe.

  11. ^ I have one and I paid about that on Kickstarter years ago. It's fun but probably not something you'd use that much so it gets hard to justify. If you think you'll print stuff that has value to you then do it but all I've gotten out of mine is some office knick-knacks and a couple things the kids played with for a few hours. I still have plans to print some stuff for my bikes but I haven't gotten around to designing it yet so....

  15. They were better than most Lambdas, more neutral at least. Ya I tried the Ether stat prototypes. They didn't really do it for me. The mids were a little off, sharp. One unit also had some kind of distortion issue during loud passages. My biggest beef with them was the lack of soundstage and imaging ability. These had a 3 blob headstage and no layering, very similar to the Audeze sound in that regard. They still need some work but the noobs seemed to like them so I'm not sure how much they'll be changed.

  18. if someone like Justin or Birgir or Mark or Nate someone else that knows about electronics says that there is no way that dust or white powder in the amp can cause damage, I'd be thrilled to put it on the top shelf with no cover and listen to the beautiful beautiful music. Dusty: I believe you have never been to Houston or anywhere on the gulf coast of Texas in the summer. It is definitely more humid here than DC or Virginia! While West Texas is very dry, our weather or more similar to New Orleans or Baton Rouge. All of the humidity comes from the warm Gulf waters. https://www.currentresults.com/Weather-Extremes/US/most-humid-cities.php

  20. Thanks Wayne. I was the first person contacted by the Washoe County Public Administrator. Here's his email to me: Mr. Hertsens, Our office is handling the final affairs of Pow Chu Moy who passed away here in Reno, Nevada, on February 12, 2016. We do not know a lot about Mr. Moy, but we have his ‘HeadWize’ business card and saw your posts on a Forum in 2002 regarding same. I would be interested in any observations you might have regarding Mr. Moy. Was he retired? Did you have a current email address for Mr. Moy? I realize you may have no personal knowledge, but it never hurts to ask. Thank you Frank Patten Office Support Specialist Washoe County Public Administrator It so saddened me to get it, it seems he left us as a lonely man. I forwarded the email to Kevin thinking he might have more info. Took me a week to realize he needed to be remembered out loud. I wrote the piece feeling mostly respect for his work. Once I posted it and a few comments were in, I re-read the memorial holding the whole of our history in mind, and started crying. I know it's the norm in the world, but it hurts so bad to feel we ended up with a broken community with such a mix of both good and bad. Fractured factions sniping at each other, and the many who've had to flee HF when it should be something much better. Chu probably hated what it had become. *sigh*
